Any difference between British Gas Tariff 'Click Energy' & 'Click Energy 4' ?

Hi,

I believe I'm on 'Click energy' Tariff with British Gas for both Gas & Electric but I had an email from energyhelpline saying that 'Click Energy 4' was now the cheapest Tarrif ?

Does anyone know pls ?

Yes, I know, I work for BG and the cheapest online tariff at the moment is Click Energy 4. If you are on any of the other Click Energy tariffs, I would advise you to go onto the BG website and register for this one, its easy enough to do and the fact that you are already on a previous Click Energy tariff won"t make a difference because the offer is open to new and existing customers. Hope this helps.

Surely you only find out that the files are incorrectly named, after downloading from this Click Energy 4 rates page.

This isn't always the case. I am on the original Click energy, I am in the Midlands and use 9500kwh per year on economy 7. My night usage is approximately 75%.

For me Click Energy 4 would cost me an extra £45 per year, only £2 per year less that British Gas standard tariff.

As a matter of interest I was looking at the Click4 prices to compare.

However my table(for BG2010) shows the rate for the 'Midlands' and Click 4 does not; am I correct in assuming that NPower rates on that list are for the Midlands?(NPower are not on the 2010 table)

If so on my usage(taking into account all deductions) I am only a few pounds a year better off on Gas, and the same on electricity.

To get the maximum benefit from Click Energy you need to take both Gas and Electric to get the additional discounts they offer.

We are in East Anglia and have moved tariff each time a new CE has been released and we have saved each time.

Also Quidco were offering £80 cashback when you switch to a BG tariff even for existing customers - not sure if this is still available.

If you are on the PP 2010 tariff I would suggest you don"t switch because you are already benefitting from prices which are cheaper than todays gas and ele prices and I suspect although don"t quote me on this one those on Click energy. Also if you switched you"d end up paying a 45 penalty charge on gas and 30 on ele because you"d agreed to stay on the 2010 tariff until 2010. If you didn"t want to pay the charge but still switch your tariff what would happen is we would waive it but rebill your account back to the time you agreed to go onto PP2010 on a standard domestic tariff which means you would probably end up paying even more. Hope this helps.

However I really do understand all the implications of the BG fixed to 2010 tariff; which I have for 4 accounts.

If you look back a couple of years on this forum you will see that 'BG fixed to 2010' was a very hot topic of discussion - to take the plunge or not.

As I said, I am slightly better off on PP 2010 than click energy 4 for my level of consumption.

Even if I were worse off on PP2010, I certainly would not be tempted to change. With oil hitting record prices($94 a barrel) I think it is inevitable that there will be further increases in gas/electricty prices before April 30th 2010 when the tariff ends.

My question was has the tariff for 'Midlands' shown on the PP2010 booklet been replaced by 'NPower' on Click E 4 prices.
