A lot of Tesco Value stuff is being rebranded under various own brands.

Unfortunately, most of the Tesco own brand products I've tried have seemed inferior to Aldi's. A favourite trick is in prepared foods where Tesco tends to use meat and fish 'from EU sources' whereas Aldi usually sources these ingredients from the UK (ironically).

Similarly, Aldi's cleaning products (dishwasher tablets notably) work better than Tesco's.

Just dropping the big brands in favour of its own brand products won't do if Tesco's own brands remain inferior - and I bet they will. Tesco has a downmarket, cheapskate culture and it will take an earthquake in the company to change that.

Another telling example is with convenience meals like curries. Sainsburys, Co-op, M&S etc will use British chicken whereas Tesco still use chicken from Thailand.

They've really gone downhill. At one time they were seen as better than
Sainsbury on most things but now they have lost their way and don't win on any measure.

I tend to find that Aldilidl's products are at least as good as Tescos.

Tesco's prices are going up, to the point that they're not competitive.

Yes I've bought online with Tesco for years but find their phasing out of Tesco Value for the mock brand names is a waste of time and the products are not so good either. The names do not fool anyone and last week their supposed 'ham' was more like luncheon meat - and my hubby will eat most things.

Bought the 'ham' and at 81% meat its more like cheap chopped pork and ham.
Will not be buying it again
Haven't got a Lidl or Aldi locally sadly.

I had Tesco Value burgers once. I wouldn't eat them and the mutt wouldn't eat them either so I knew they were as bad as I thought.

Eastman's Deli newspaper advert for pork pies says: "From proper pork pies ... to crunchy coleslaw, all our food has been inspired by local delis that we know and love".

Does anyone know which local delis' products were used as inspiration for these products? Or is the advert a bit of a porky?

I would hope the partnership with Carrefour will improve the quality of Tesco own brands.

I have seen the change but didn't realise it was in an attempt to take on Aldi and Lidl, why and how do they think their new branding approach will work? It just seems like the marketing department were given too much money and were trying to spend it all to ensure they have a decent budget next year, it's pointless at best and at worst on hearing the motives behind it, is actually quite patronising -and that the prices on their new "value" range have gone up in price is actually quite insulting. I've seen the products and not found a single one I've liked -and I usually am a regular to supermarket value brands. What a waste of everyone's time!
