Post Office Credit Card - Balance transfer not done?

Greetings all!

So, heres a long story (hopefully) short:

Got 3 credit cards, all of which have balances. In order to save some money, applied for a Post Office 0% balance transfer card, thought i may as well save some money on whats being paid (Total debt over the 3 is 3,200)

Was accepted for the balance transfer card, and as part of the final steps i was asked for the card informations of the balances i wanted to transfer, so i put them along with the amounts to be transferred.

I confirm it, and then nothing. No confirmation email even of application acceptance.

I wait a few days and an email then does show up, saying the card is on its way, it even mentions the balance transfers too! So i go and check the other cards....nothing!

Card arrives, i activate it and check the account, there isnt even a pending balance transfer request or anything of the like. I can request one, but i thought this was already done as part of the application, the card is specifically designed for balance transfers (Got a 0% for 26 months one)

Has anyone experienced this before? I have tried giving them a ring but, to my unfortunate surprise they arent all that helpful and nobody seems to know left from right. I dont really want to do a new balance transfer request incase this other one is still sitting in limbo, is it worth waiting a while longer? Do these things timeout if they arent completed? ( Like if they did start it, but its somehow stopped somewhere )

Any information would be appreciated! Thanks in advance :D

The Post Office isn't a good choice if you want a card that works as you expect it to.

All you can do is keep badgering them.

I've had cards where I have put in balance transfer information as part of the application process and then have to wait until the card is issued and activated before they have been done.

It could be they want to see your other debt, before they come up with your credit limit, it could be part of the security checks.

You don't have the card until it is activated, so I guess just like you can't spend on it, you can't do a balance transfer either.

With Virgin, when I rang to activate my card, I was then asked if I still wished to proceed with the balance transfer request from my application. Bank of Scotland was similar, but they said did I have any balances to transfer, rather than what I had requested.

My advice is to ring or contact them in another manner, make sure no transfers are pending, then do the transfer over the phone, there and then or over the web, if not phoning.

    Hey guys,

So i rang, and as it turns out they dont exactly believe i am who i say i am, apparently this was flagged up as soon as the application was accepted so its been blocked. Hence why no balance transfer. They are sending a letter out for me to then send proof of ID back to them.

Their exact wording was "We are sending a letter out, you will then need to send proof of ID back to us. If we find the ID to be acceptable then your account will be unblocked. If we do not accept the ID sent to us then we may pass this to our fraud investigation team and there will be a mark on your record."

So, its sounding to me i've been accused of fraud.

You haven't been accused of fraud.

They are making sure your ID passes their checks.
