Old and closed bank accounts

Hi can anyone help .i need to get a bank statement on a joint account I had in 2003 I have the account number and sort code bank said they can’t go that far back any ideas

    Very little chance of getting a statement from 15 years ago on a dead account - you'd probably struggle to get one of that age from most banks even of the account was still active. Your own records are probably the best option, but if you haven't kept statements in any form then I think you'll be out of luck.

    You've no chance of getting a bank statement from 15 years ago.

    How will you do that?
    If you paid by CHAPS - fair enough the payee name would show on the statement, but faster payments were not invented - so what would show on your account statement?

    A cheque would only show a cheque number and amount and would not prove anything without a copy of the cheque.

    If you are claiming against somebody and the other party has not acknowledged the debt in any way in the last 6 years it is statute barred anyway.
