What foods is very high in fibre?

Due to scar tissue around my appendix site I used to suffer a lot with this! I was told weetabix but drinking alot of water afterwards (if you have fibre you must drink water or it can make things worse). Oranges are good but not bananas. Bananas were always used as a comparison in an old Allbran advert but I was told they have a chemical in them that can make you a bit 'bunged up'.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Prunes, cherries and/or figs. With plenty of water.
Please don't let yourself start on laxatives. It's a lazy habit and will ultimately make the situation worse. We all go on junk food benders occasionally and the right fruits will help not only to ease the blockages but will also start putting some decent vitamins and minerals back in your system Next time, it's worth taking dried figs and prunes with you to have every day while on holiday so the same thing doesn't happen again.
I hope things go smoothly!Better is good enough.0 -
Hot water, hot tea, especially hot coffee, first thing in the morning!
If that doesn't work, try a bowl of weetabix with a bit of oat bran, and water afterwards.
Being bunged up is not a good feeling.0 -

Prior to a medical procedure I once had to take prescribed laxatives. I wouldn't wish the result on my worst enemy!
I agree that over the counter medication in desperate times would work, but so would prunes, cherries and figs. They're lovely fruit, cherries are in season and prunes and figs are available in every supermarket.Better is good enough.0 -

OP, not sure if you're still having issues or not but oatcakes also work well. I love the ones from M & S.0
