Epidaurus Hotel Cavtat - Missing Information

We have recently returned from a holiday at the Epidaurus hotel in Cavtat in Croatia. The hotel itself is a nice 3 star all inclusive. However when we arrived we found a French tour company who used the hotel had there own animation team who ran all the entertainment rather like a holiday camp. To make matters worse it was all done in French and often with loud music with activities around the swimming pool for the French, So basically you could not use the pool. It spoilt our holiday It meant we could not take full advantage of the all inclusive as we had to go out in the evenings to bars as it was unbearable in the hotel. if When we booked the holiday through TUI there was no mention of this on the website or a warning. If it had been in hotel had been in France maybe this would have been acceptable. Do not TUI have a responsibility to inform you on this issue when booking. If we had known we would have booked another hotel. Presumably we would be wasting our time by complaining to TUI despite us thinking we were mis sold this holiday on the grounds that there was missing information..

There is nothing you can do
When we read up about this hotel on TA, it was mentioned quite a few times about the entertainment being in French.
They have to do the entertainment in some language & you are in a foreign country. They could have done it in Croatian!0 -
There is no requirement for the hotel or the tour operator to tell you the nationalities of their guests.
I can partly understand your frustration in finding the hotel animation programme presented in another language but I guess that the French/Germans/Dutch/Scandinavians/Russians have the same issue when hotels run a programme of entertainment in English. Did you mention the issue to the hotel animation team whilst you were on holiday? They may have then started to at least use France and English language.
You could write to TUI but I suspect you would just either get a generic ::-:: sorry you were disappointed with certain elements of your holiday ::-:: reply, or at best a small value voucher for a future TUI holiday - maybe £25. How much is your time worth?
Not sure if your review is the current one on Trip Advisor making mention of the French language animation programme but if not you could add a review so that other British travellers are aware of the possible issue.0 -
You have my sympathy I consider that TUI ( it is the First Choice arm that sells this hotel) had a morel obligation to inform you all the entertainment is in french, but legally you would have no case. The website does stete evening entertainment but no mention it is all in French.Always read TripAdvisor reviews before booking holidays as many highlight the fact this is a French orientated hotel. I certainly would not book a holiday at the Epidaurus Hotel now knowing the facts. The resort of Cavtat sounds lovely.0

Why should a package tour company be morally obliged? Independent travellers have to do ALL their own homework.....you had very little homework to do.
Was the cuisine aimed at the French as well?
I'm going on a cruise across the Atlantic with Thomson [Marella] soon. I don't need the brochure to tell me that the Atlantic might be a bit rough.

We stayed at this hotel in early June. the hotel itself was fine for a 3 star but our stay was somewhat spoiled by the French animation team who were extremely loud and very offhand to the British. The french guests made up about 75% of people staying here. Basically in our opinion this is hotel aimed at the French and not the British. we were aware when we booked there was entertainment at the hotel, but not that is all spoken in french and holiday camp style. We did write a review on Trip Advisor so anyone considering booking this hotel will be aware of our experience.0
