Dubrovnik Airport- only accepts Euros not Kunas

Options
We were very surprised to find the duty free shops and other outlets at Dubrovnik Airport only accept Euros for payment. The local currency Kunas are not accepted. Croatia currency is Kunas and you pay with these in the resorts.so why you have to pay with Euros at the Airport is beyond me. We saved some Kunas for use at the airport and then could not spend them .Why is this!!!

Croatia wants foreign currency income, that's about all there is to it.

We are going in 4 weeks.

Is it just Euro's at the Airport or is sterling accepted?

Also any idea on prices Vodka & Gin
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA :D
  • It is just Euros or credit cards. All prices are quoted in Euros.I think, but I cannot be sure that branded gin and vodka prices at the airport are similar to the UK maybe a tad cheaper.

Pop over the border into Montenegro or Bosnia if you want cheap booze.

I bet that any cafes, restaurants and bars Airside would have accepted kuna.

Edit: Thinking about it we had no problem spending kuna when we flying out of Split Airport.
  • If you have a "user friendly" credit card (no foreign transaction fees) then best to use it and keep your Euros for another holiday in the EU.

Halifax Clarity and Barclaycard Travel Platinum CCs are a good choice - make sure you settle in Euros - "without conversion" option when it comes to complete the transaction.
