Hi

I VT my car in March this year, made a small extra payment to take me over the 50% mark with the finance company, so all good on that side.

The car was in excellent condition, had an appraisal done and a report by the main dealer.

I had done excess miles, which I calculated would be around £1500 and I was prepared to pay that as I knew I had gone over the mileage.

However, I handed the car back in March, arranged for it to be collected by the car company (BMW) and have not heard anything from them since, nothing about the condition, nothing about mileage, nothing about anything??

My question is, how long do they have to ask for the excess mileage payment?

Thanks to anyone who can help

I cannot offer a definitive answer but I exceeded my mileage by 11000 on my Toyota & was prepared for the bill but it never came. It's something to do with the fact you're VT'ing I think.

thanks, the issue is my work was going to pay the excess, but i need to give them an invoice from BMW. If i leave my company (not planning it) and then they come after me, i will have to pay myself! Thats the difficult bit :-)

Then the obvious thing to do would be to call BMWFS and ask them. They have been known to write off excess mileage in the past so you may be lucky.
