Hi
I have a Dell 5150 pc but it's sooooo slow now. It currently has 512mb of ram (2 slots of 256mb ddr2 400mhz). Ther are another 2 slots free at the moment.
1) When I buy more ram does it have to be 400mhz? or would say 533mhz make it faster?
2) I heard previously that RAM has to be in 'matching pairs' is this still correct?
3) Should I purchase RAM from Dell or will I get a better deal elsewhere?
Any general advice welcome i.e. how much Ram to upgrade with?
Thanks in advance

533 will not make it faster, it won't make any difference at all, because your system is using 400, it'll work but be a waste of money unless there is no difference in price, or 400 isn't available anymore.
Matching pairs, yes your system needed matching pairs. Check with link below, they'll guide you through what you need.
For all the advice and prices you need, http://www.crucial.com/uk/ they are a great company and it's hard to beat their prices.
Do not buy from Dell, you'll pay a fortune!0 -
As Isofa said, go to the crucial website and either look up your system or run the system scanner. If you run the scanner it will tell you what you have now and what your upgrade options are. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Many thanks for your help guys  Just used the scanner at Crucial and have ordered some RAM
:T :T I just hope installing it is as easy  but crucial even sent a 'help with installation' link with my order confirmation :T

If I feel the need to hide
