Help with passport

Hello I wonder if anyone can advise at all please. I’m getting another passport. I had one when I was 16, but lost it when I become homeless and didn’t report it missing, I’m 37 now and only just getting a new one. I have a few queries so please bare with me. Firstly I don’t know my mother’s exact date of birth, we haven’t spoken in over 17 years, I have no contact whatsoever with any of her family which means I have none I can ask. I’ve been to the house I grew up in to find she had moved with her husband(not my dad) This week I’ve contacted his place of work to ask him for some details and he has refused which is fine but leaves me wondering what to write on the form.
Secondly I have none I can ask to sign it anyway I don’t know anyone in the professions list my doctors wont do it and nor will my dentist. I have a friend who is a deputy care manager but she doesn’t have a passport and I have a friend who is a welder he does have a passport but that profession isn’t mentioned on the list. I have bipolar and ptsd( from a rubbish childhood)and have been under the mental health team for many years however I’ve never had the same person for more than 6 months.
The only thing I can actually put is my dads details as I finally found him after having my son at the age of 17 but even he can’t remember my mother’s details. Any ideas what I can do regarding what to put and the counter signee please

If you know your mother's full name (forenames and maiden name) and approximate birth date - the year will do - then you can search databases for her birth details.

If she had a very common surname it will help if you know roughly where she was born.
As an individual you may need to pay for a subscription but if you go to a public library they will usually search for you, or advise you, free.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

I know her full name month and year of birth I!!!8217;ve done searches online including uk archives but it doesn!!!8217;t give you a actual date of birth I!!!8217;ve spoke to someone today and they!!!8217;ve said to just write a accompanying letter explaining I don!!!8217;t have contact but to give her husbands work phone number which I don!!!8217;t really want to do. As for countersigned I!!!8217;m still not sure who to ask. Thankyou for the advice I!!!8217;ll pop into library on Monday and see what they say

If you were born before 1983 do you need parents details?

Try writing the letter but don't give the husband's details.

After all, you did have a passport before so all the information they need is in their records: they just have to take the time to look it all up.

I read that the OP had a passport at age 16, therefore this would not be her first adult passport.

OP, you can report your passport as lost now, and apply for a replacement. I agree with Voyager they already have all the info they need about you, they just need to cross-reference to their record of your old/lost passport.

I applied for my first ever passport last year.

I didn't put most of my parent details on there. For various reasons I didn't know dates of birth etc and had no one to ask.

It didn't delay my application at all
The opposite of what you know...is also true
  • Do you need it quickly ?

If the passport office keep delaying then I suggest you contact your MP - government agencies react faster when MPs enquire about cases.

Firstly it is a replacement so all you need is your parents names. Secondly if you have changed your name since your last passport you will have to provide evidence of your change of name plus proof that you are using that name. As for someone to countersign your form, the list is endless. Do you know any civil srevants, nurses social workers. If you work your manager. You will need it countersigned as the passport office Will not have the image of your old photo on record because of when it was issued.
Complete your application online and save yourself £10. When you apply online you will be prompted to report your Passport lost

What about any neighbours for the countersignatory, if you have any idea what they do? They don't need to know you well, they just need to have known you in passing for the last two years and to confirm that's your name. It doesn't have to be one of the professions on the list, just "of good standing in the community" i.e. not someone with a record who's going to lie through their teeth and potentially be knocking out dodgy passports - any local councillors, neighbourhood watch, community organisations at all?

The GP may do it for a fee, have you asked about that? Or you could phone up the helpline and ask the question about your welder friend if he's a reputable person.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

With that information you could buy her birth certificate.

Make sure you use the government site or you'll get ripped off.
