APCOA Luton airport now getting solicitor letters ZDR

Last August I pulled over in a bus stop for less than a minute at Luton airport to figure out where the long stay car park was. Received fine but was advised to ignore but now threatened with court and fine is now £200.
What do I do.???

    Who's threatening you with 'court'?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Threats threats threats they are not actually taking you to court are they?

Sounds like a debt collectors letter who are the "solicitors" telling you to pay?

Have you read the newbies thread?

If APCOA did take you to court you would be in a lonely club and very exclusive club:

Do a search on here for 'QDR' then come back and tell us how many times they've issued court proceedings!
HOW TO USE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION:

Use the Forum Jump button (one near the top and one near bottom of this page) to get back to the forum thread list. Just above the threads, on the right, is a heading along a line, next to forum tools, called 'Search this Forum'. Put your key word(s) in and change the default search from 'Show Threads' to 'Show Posts'.

Acting as debt collectors probably. For whom do they say they are acting, or to who are they saying you should pay?

    It is not a fine.

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012. However, as you ae now past the appeals deadline, you can now ignore debt collectors and anything else you get except real court papers/LBC/MCOL.

The NEWBIES explains the whole sordid process.

    Airport byelaws may well apply.

I doubt the NTK was POFA 2012 compliant.

You should complain to your MP as this is the only way this unregulated scam can be stopped.

QDR solicitors are also the debt collection arm of Wright Hassall and like all debt collectors they are economical with the truth

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
