i bank with hsbc so have an account there and can manage my current savings online side by side, have thought about opening another savings account/isa for long-term savings and maybe keeping this account for holidays/treats/house stuff...thanks :)

Most people on here will probably have a few.

    Mine include:

    NS&I ISA
    Yorkshire Bank Reg Saver
    Abbey Fixed rate Reg Saver
    A&L Direct Saver
A&L Plus Saver that comes bundled with current account.
Abbey Jan 1st e-Bond special edition

The reg savers have limits on how much a month you can put in so more than 1 are often required.

The A&L direct savers have interest penalties for withdrawals so not suitable for shifting money around a lot between current account and saving.

ISA - 1st place to stick money for tax free.

I took the abbey bond as i need to hide some money away until next year and review what to do on various fronts so i can't spend it.

Quidco offer a nice deal on alliance & leicester current accounts (was £50 cashback a month ago, probably even more now since they upped the referral bonuses). If you're after good high interest check the thread on best savings a/c on this forum.

Probably the best right now is icici's Hisave savings a/c. They have an offer on to beat the bank base rate by at least 0.3% pa until 2011 which is cracking.
