ESA Medical Certificate date confusion

Options
Hi Hope someone can help cos I'm very confused! Hope this makes sense!

I claimed for ESA on 30th April by phone got doctor's note 1st May dated for two months.

My plan was to go to GP today and get my next note, however when I called to explain,GP won't date note until this one has completely expired which they say is midnight 1st July. They are providing me with a note on Monday which will be the 2nd of July.

The DWP sent me a reminder letter to send in new note by 1st July however. Is this going to cause me problems as potentially there will be a gap in dates? I can accept losing one or two days payment but am worried I would have to start the whole claim again.

Any advice? I really appreciate it,thanks

This sounds right to me, there won't be a gap in dates. Your first fit note was for 2 months from 1st May. Your next fit note needs to be from 2nd July because your first one covers you up until and including 1st July.

Ive found this thread helpful as well, to find that they send reminder notices - didnt know that, and trying to help my ill son to manage his affairs, but will be helpful to know they send him a reminder too

As we said in the thread you started, though, don't let your son rely on the reminders. He needs his own system in case they go astray, don't get sent etc.

So true, thank you Neil. We have worked out a reminder system for him plus I have put it in my diary so will be able to poke him when it is coming up

Many thanks for your help again :T
