Struggling for inspiration - Painting the living room walls

Options
Might be an odd one, but I'm also happy to admit I'm not the most stylish of people here.

Recently moved into a new place, and not taking any existing furniture with me. I've found the sofa I'm interested in, and now I'm trying to work out what sort of colour walls would compliment it. Currently, all 4 walls are in magnolia.

Sofa I have on order is https://www.scs.co.uk/laguna-rhf-corner-chaise-group-scatter-back/L038032_EVELYN-COLLECTION-SILVER_OAK-EFFECT.html in this exact style. Only other parts of note is that I have two paintings that will be hung in there, one being pretty neutral but the other being a black and white image painted onto a grey background, which is of some sentimental value hence bringing it with me.

Any recommendations for colours that would compliment this? I've had a look around, but so far I've just struggled a bout visualising it and can't get inspired by anything.

Go for wallpaper. It's infinitely more interesting than paint.

Everything you've picked is fairly neutral, so liven it up a bit. Not feature walls, full rooms of paper are back in fashion.

light grey, light green, light brown/orange.
Look at a colour wheel, print it out, then hold a colour next to th esofa and see if it goes.

Couldn't agree more - Endless choice of patterns, textures, and colours. I scored lucky and got myself a dozen rolls of heavy gauge paper (light gold with a green damask pattern. Retail of around £25 per roll, on sale for £1 per roll. Bought out the entire stock :D

If you have a limited budget, then you could try https://www.wallpapermarket.co.uk/store/index.php - Not used them myself, but they do have a regular turn over of stock, much of it dirt cheap. Downside is that some of it is end of line, so you'd be unlikely to get any more of a particular pattern.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • I think dulux have an app where you can take a pic on your phone and try out various colours ,which may give you an idea.
If you went with wallpaper , it may give you an idea of colour?

It's the accessories you put on the wall that make it interesting, doesn't need to be a busy wallpaper that you will tire of or a restrictive colour. I'd go off white and put some art up! I'd recommend picking up an interiors magazine for inspiration, there are a couple of good ones that cost £1.99
We're in the process of decorating our new house and all our rooms will be an off white as we have so many pictures and things!
