So many ways to go, BWC...
Here's a google search on independent advice to laptop buying
Personally, I'd love a Sony Vaio - just for its looks!
I've had various: Toshiba (good but heavy workhorse)
IBM ThinkPad (ok, again heavy)
Apple PowerBook (lightest and fastest of the 3 I've had - probs: small keyboard makes it annoying to touch type - however, can usb a keyboard & mouse....)Still waiting for Dyson to bring out a ride-on hoover...Memberships:

The one that best meets your requirements!
No-one can answer your question as you haven't said what you want to use it for. What are your priorities, light weight, disk space, screen size, price? Do you want to play games, browse the net, edit video? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
This is such a HUGE topic! It depends on your budget and your needs. What do you need to do on your laptop. What do you see as its most important functions?
If you are new to computers, then going down the Apple route would be a very good idea. A Macbook is a great little machine, but isn't the cheapest laptop around. If you just want a cheap, well specced laptop and are happy using Windows XP or Vista, then check out the Dell website (http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen).
Personally, if you go down the Windows route I'd check out an IBM/Lenovo laptop. Check out eBuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com) for good prices and reviews of laptops.
Hope this helps.0 -
Just like to add that if you're budget driven on this, but still want a good machine, I'd go for the best spec used laptop I could find, looking for max affordable ram, best cards (sound & graphics), best modem & built-in dvd player/writer....
Might just be me though! lolStill waiting for Dyson to bring out a ride-on hoover...Memberships:
