Lloyds penalising me after bank charges claim

Hi there, I recently received a sum of money for claiming back bank charges from Lloyds Bank. They have now written to me telling me that following their recent decision to uphold my complaint they are changing my account to a Club Lloyds. This means I'll lose all the Value Added Benefits (various insurances, overdraft fee level, card loss service) etc. I feel a bit miffed to be honest that I'm being unfairly treated. Anyone know what I can or should do? Perhaps switch bank accounts but would like to know if I have any rights to ask them to revert me back to the Added Value Account. Thank you

It doesnt seem unfair at all. it seems a logical outcome to your complaint decision.

Tell Lloyds that you withdraw your complaint and refund them the money as you were mistaken.

    No.

If you complain that they sold you an account that was unsuitable for you, then they have every right to remove that account from you. You cant have your cake and eat it.

So, they paid me back for my overpayment of bank charges. Wasn't this my money to begin with and now they are removing the account because I made a complaint? Isn't that a bit like throwing teddy out of the pram or am I missing the point?

Can you clarify what they have refunded?

The bank will normally end the service/product of the service/product you are complaining about. If your refund INCLUDED a refund of the account charges linked to the package you have then they are right to end that account offering to you. That was my interpretation of your first post.

If they refunded different charges with none of them linked to account charges, then there is no link to the type of account and they shouldnt be ending the account you are on.

The claiming of unfair bank charges ended in 2009. Nowadays, all you see getting refunded are for those in financial hardship, incorrect application of charges or packaged bank account charges.

If you believe Lloyds overcharged you and you were since compensated in some way you should be looking to move to a new bank surely. Why would you want to stay with such a Bank? I wouldn't.

Perhaps that packaged account has the risk of future charges and they assume you don't want to get the risk of the charge again so they took the risk away by changing your account. Perhaps they don't want you as a customer and are hinting you should move.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You complained the account wasn't suitable. They agreed and refunded your bank account charge [ e.g. for Gold account etc].

Then they stopped your account and gave you another type.

Did you think you could reclaim the account charge and then still keep the account?
