that will be an £8 increase or put another way an 18% increase, highly unlikely I would say.

Ah that comment explains your thought process. You have obviously not been with BT before!:rotfl:

Once you are out of minimum term, your 'increase' will be from whatever you are paying now, to whatever the base price happens to be on that day. If the base price is £40 at that time your increase will be to £40. If it's £60 you cost will increase to £60. And with BT the price changes weekly.

That's when your choice comes down to hagglign a better deal, paying whatever they decide to charge on that day, or leave to another supplier.

As an example to show you, as you obviously don't believe it will happen, this is the current BT offering for Superfast Fibre Unlimited on the BT site:

    £29 .99 a month
    18 months
    Includes BT line rental
    Price after 18 months £52.49

Notice the prices? The £44 you agreed to at the beginning no longer exists. The standard price is now £52.49 and if you don't haggle or leave, that is what you will be paying at the end of your minimum term.

That is probably going to come as an awful shock (presuming they do actually notice) to a lot of people. I predict BT's help line is going to be very, very busy.

It was actually £41.99 (I was including the £2.50 current increase). I was previously with O2 then transferred to Sky, treated very well with both. In both cases where a new price system was brought in legacy customers stayed on the old pricing system and new customers were moved onto the new. I assumed I was on a contract at the old prices and the BT generous offer was an attempt to move me on to the new pricing structure (end price of £52.49 from £41.99).

Are you saying that all the customers that were out of contract and previously paying £41.99 for their BT infinity (Infinity 2 I think) have suddenly had their prices increased to £52.49 because of the new pricing structure? That would be a hefty price increase and I am sure would have hit the headlines.

    From their own website:
BROADBAND UNLIMITED, Average speed 10Mb, Price after 18 months £45.49

SUPERFAST FIBRE UNLIMITED, Average speed 50Mb, Price after 18 months £52.49

SUPERFAST FIBRE 2 UNLIMITED, Average speed 67Mb, Price after 18 months £58.99

The price changes (for calls and BB/LR) are scheduled for September so I'm guessing they're sending out emails and letters in phases.

BTW, in my personal experience Sky also pass on price rises to existing customers, not just new ones.

Yep. Probably to save the call centres being overwhelmed! From the MSE article...
BT has told us it's writing to all customers who'll be affected by the price rises and will contact them all by August at the latest.

Correct again, the last one was in April

Yes and my end package price has been increased from £41.99 to £44.49.
Your discount ends on xx xx xx. After this you will pay the standard price of £44.49 (this price has changed by £2.50) including line rental . Please give us a call when your discount ends and we will make sure that you are still getting the best value.
