Anyone tried People's Energy

  • I've been with People's Energy since Nov 2018 and have experienced a total of 4 stupid administrative mistakes.
People's Energy haven't been very apologetic or careful and are very slow to respond or correct their mistakes, so I'm going to switch my account.
They're only a small company and have demonstrated that they are unable to cope with a huge influx of new customers, so I couldn't recommend them.
  • I have been their customer last year.
After leaving them, they did not bother to calculate a final bill and return my credit amount - I had to chase them for it

they asked me to reopen the direct debit to return the credit they owed me, and than the following month they charged me again, even though I'm no longer their customer and have no usage - they did not send me a bill or notified me of the charge, I only found out as I check my bank account regularly.

So - AVOID, they clearly have no internal processes in favour of their customers, no revenue assurance and are clearly not compliant with industry billing regulation.
  • To OP, yes I have. Been with them for 7 months now and have only high praise for them. Was on a 24 month fix but PE pointed out I could save money when they introduced their latest tariff so switched me to that AND reduced my direct debit AND offered a refund of excessive accumulated credit. Everyone I have dealt with has been excellent so I find it baffling that others posts are so critical. It seems to me that PE are genuine and have an extremely refreshing approach. The accusation that they are money-grabbing is not, it seems to me, compatible with their unique undertaking to ensure that the multiple of lowest to highest salary will never be greater than x10. What's more they are completely transparent - they actually publish their board meeting minutes! - who else does that?

So, don't avoid, have realistic expectations and switch to them. If your experience is anything like mine you will not be disappointed.
  • Have been with them for around six months. Best energy company I have been with. Always answer phone quickly and dealt with the problems I had switching from Shell Energy. Can not fault them.

Been with them a year now. Just going on a new fix which is cheaper than the last one, which was the cheapest around for me at the time. Only had to speak to them once when British Gas were trying to tell me that they hadn't done the closing/opening readings. PE even gave me the ref no they had got for the info. Shut BG up instantly.

I love that I can put my monthly meter readings in & get my bill (correct) within 30 mins, unlike BG & Scottish Power who used to take days.

I confess to being very worried when I changed to them as I had never heard of them. If they keep their prices down like this I may well be here for the duration!

Been with them about ten months, no problems whatever, I get an e email reminder to submit meter reading.

My 12 month contract ends soon and unless there is a large price differential for switching I will remain with them

Highly recommend them, been a customer for over 2 years now and no problems...until yesterday when they got hacked  :rage:. They emailed me very quickly however, and while this is not so good news for existing customers, new ones will be signing up for a company who's worked with "a dedicated security company" to help make their systems more secure.

I suspect from the info gleaned so far it's a case of unsecured elasticsearch instance. If that does turn out to be the case, frankly there is no excuse whatsoever.

Pity they failed to make their system secure to start with. Simply another area of concern with PE.
