We have two cases with UKCPS

someone parked off road in the same spot on two consecutive days. He received no notice at the car on either day

A few days later, he received two different pieces of correspondence for each of the two days

First Day

• A Notification letter (without any photos)
• A reminder letter charging £130

Second day

• A Notice to Keeper letter with two photos of his car parked in a street (but no identification it was in a prohibited area)
• A Final Notice letter charging £130

My son appealed via email and the appeal was rejected.

We rang the UKCPS and the upshot is

• They want £260 for the two days (even though my son was not notified of the first day charge until after he parked there a second time
• They say the Appeal only covered one case and therefore we have lost the right to appeal against one of the cases. He referenced both cases in his appeal.

Can anyone advise me re next steps and how to approach?

No next step! Certainly not something to pay. IPC cases are all the same.

UKCPS are a bit shy of taking these matters to court - they may not want their past being dragged up.

There will be a lot of noise, bluster and threats that would make an Evangelical preacher seem tame but the result is the same - nowt to do but file and see if they want to put their hand in their pockets for a claim.

Edit your post to remove information about who parked.
Only ever refer to the Driver and The Keeper. Hopefully you didn't give away the driver's identity in the initial appeal by saying "I parked" or anything else to blow your toes off.

Complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
