Faulty garage repair

    i have done a lot of intank fuel pumps and i have the tools to do it so i would the garage would too.did you check that the o-ring was fitted correctly when you cut off the new ring?

    So new information comes to light. It would appear the op removed the original sealing ring by cutting it off rather than undoing it with the right tool. It appears op replaced the fuel pump and then gave it to the garage when the op could not tighten the new cap back on.

    Garage have fitted the new part provided by op but it has subsequently leaked. Op complained and garage advised they would need to investigate what was causing the leak and if it was down to their work there would be no charge but if down to damage from op removing the original cap or from op supplying the wrong part they would charge.

    Op can you confirm my understanding is correct. If this is what is happening the garage are not being unreasonable
