Old Style Daily Thursday 28th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

I had a lovely day out with my nephew and sister in law yesterday. We didn’t go far just to Wells-next-the-Sea, and had a wander around before having lunch. After lunch my nephew wanted to go and see where his maternal grandad had lived so we went to Brancaster to show him the house and had a wander around, stopping at a tea shop for the obligatory scone and a cup of tea. We went for a drink and left it until after the rush hour to travel back and were pleased we had as a clear run back to Suffolk.

By the time I got home I couldn’t face doing any housework, and I will just have a quick vacuum through this morning. I have a few things that need hand washing and I’ll get that done as well.

I’m not sure what I am doing today, I have said that I will go out somewhere with my neighbour, she hasn’t been anywhere for a few weeks now so I have said that it is entirely up to her where we go. I haven’t got any idea where she will choose but it doesn’t matter providing she has a good day, and to be honest, she has never chosen anywhere I haven’t enjoyed.

Lunch will be something while we are out. I’ve got a slice of quiche out of the freezer for dinner tonight, and will have that with some new potatoes and salad when I get in this evening. There are some strawberries in the fridge and a small pot of cream so that will be dessert.

Gers how could you forget about a wine delivery? Very remiss of you :D:.

I’m sorry that the medication isn’t helping Mr TA TA. Hugs ((TA)).

DP1 I’m pleased that you are enjoying your electric bike, it sounds like a good investment for you.

Redruby I hope that the damp in the kitchen has dried out. I’m not surprised that the de-humidifier running is driving you mad, you don’t need anything giving out extra heat in this weather.

Nelski I hope that you felt a bit better yesterday. It sounds like you are starting to slowly get back to working. Take it easy though you are still recovering.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good morning Hollyharvey, thank you for starting us off.

I'm up because it is getting light and I can't sleep any more. I have towels going round in the washing machine.

Yesterday I went to Al*I and spent very little. I've got some of those flat peaches and am hoping that they will ripen on a sunny but not in direct sun place.
That's about all I did, apart from messing about and cooking dinner.

I've been washing down woodwork and need to do the stairs and landing today, and some other small and not very interesting jobs. OH can cook today.

I hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning All

I'm hot already! It's due to reach 30 degrees here today but I don't care, it's the last day to term! Finish at 1pm but it'll probably be a little later when I get to go, there are always some stragglers with parents who say they haven't received the texts!

We had a pot luck lunch at work yesterday and I ate far too much, spent the rest of the day with tummy ache, that coupled with the heat meant I felt terrible. Still, my own fault and I really should learn not to be so greedy!

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast but sun due out in a bit once the cloud clears, then it'll be hot again, although it's already pretty warm.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was pizza and chips - shoved in the oven after all the jobs had been done, later dinner but pleased with what we achieved.

Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with a chicken portion each for the menfolk. I'm now on days' off and have a nail appointment this morning and I need to get some toiletries from the discount shop and do a couple of other jobs whilst in town. I also need to get some wash loads done, I've been getting a load a day line dried - hope that can continue as it means I can keep up with it - although I have a mahoosive pile of ironing - will sort through it and see if there's bits that don't really need ironing.

I need to get stuff done today as we go on hols next Friday so I loose Friday, I'm also working this Saturday - so not great timing but I should be able to get stick in and get ready. I have already spent some time sorting clothes etc, so will just need to pack next Thursday and do the jobs that need doing.

I'll be heading to town shortly, then pottering along getting done what needs to be done.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. It's overcast here but the sun is forecast to burn through and it still feels very warm.

The DGDs are still in their beds so peace reigns for now. I will need to get them up by 7.00 to feed, water and get to school. Then all three are here tonight for late tea after swimming and another sleepover. I was hopeful of a different request for tea in this heat but, no, Bolognese pasta bake it has to be!

Mr TA is off on a little jaunt with his DB today for a bit of men time. He asked him if he fancied a little run up in the Dales and Mr TA agreed. They will find a nice pub to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy a refreshing (soft) drink before heading back home.

In his absence I will take myself off to the sm for the weekly shop. I know how to enjoy myself!!

The fires on Saddleworth moor are a big worry for those battling them and nearby residents, especially in this heat. I hope everyone is safe. We are on the edge of moorland too, although they cover nowhere near as big an area. In previous summers we have had fires break out too, with no obvious cause and are the devil to put out.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care all xx

Something and chips for dinner tonight, will go and rummage in the freezer after this, I think there might be some fish or breaded chicken in there.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Good morning

Well clearly its another day in paradise today...high 20s predicted, Germany are out of the World cup and all is well with the world. Now you know I am not a lover of football at all but its hard not to have a little smile about Germany. My interest will fade soon I'm sure

Holly Yes I am ramping up the work out of necessity...before my op I did lots of sales to fill my diary post op and it worked so I now have 3 new big customers as well as my existing ones so I am having to do the design and prep for lots of new stuff needed in a couple of weeks. No worries though its all home based for a while so my leg is being pampered with baby oil and sun :)

Sods law though my industrial size wifi printer is not working at the one time I need it really bad so will need to waste too many hours today trying to sort that out and worse comes to the worse I may have to replace :(

Managed an hour in the sun yesterday and will try for that again today its so relaxing sitting out with my book when its quiet...which is rare but I think I have it worked out time wise

5 interviews to complete today managed 6 yesterday which were mostly OK bar one extremely arrogant man who kindly informed me that he had nothing to learn from the likes of me (he has never met me)and that he will make sure he is sick on any training days arranged ......oh I cant wait to update his boss tomorrow who has requested the training due to poor results :rotfl:

Food wise I had pizza last night and theres half of that left so will finish today with a big fat salad and coleslaw. Solo cooking is a pain the necessity for repeated meals

Anyway have a lovely day in your paradise whatever that is :A
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Up early have to take a neighbour into hospital to get the cast on her foot removed and then replaces once they can see whats going on under the plaster. It will take most of the morning, if the last visit is anything to go by.

I have the chap coming this morning to clean the carpets. OH can work gently to cleat the book case. If they tried to lift it with any books in it would tip over so its being emptied. Also the chest in the hall needs emptied, the drawers taken out so it can be moved out to get behind it. I guess there might be a few spiders hiding there.

Its was over hot last night, too hot to water until well after 8pm........its a bit fresher now, but I guess its going to be another stonking day heatwise. I am ok as long as I can stay out of it. Fortunately our sitting room gets the sun first thing, so by afternoon it is reasonable cool, the kitchen gets very warm, especially if I have the combi on.

Stew for supper tonight, I took it out of the freezer yesterday so should have defrosted in the fridge overnight.

DGD is feeling better, she is on warferin has to see the Drs in 3 months, apparently it was the pill she was on that caused the clot, so they will have to find another type of birth control. She also has been told to loose weight.

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly we love Wells so glad you enjoyed your day x
TA have just seen a satellite shot of the UK from yesterday and the only cloud over the country was the smoke from the fire over the Moor :(

It’s cloudy here at the moment but if it’s anything like yesterday it will quickly burn off and get hot, I did manage to work Lu in the relative cool of the morning and she was a good girl. It will be just a cool hose down for her today.

Food shopping this morning, mainly salad bits and ice-cream :D W8rose have a 3for2 at the moment so will take full advantage!

Nelski we also enjoyed the German team going out and marvelled at the good manners of the Korean team, made a pleasant surprise after the usual histrionics.

Have a good day folks x
