Have you been into Asda with all that paperwork, plonked it on the manager's desk (not the Customer (dis)Services Counter) and demanded that he gets this sorted out for you. Tell him how disgusted you are that Asda are prepared to see their customers dragged to court over a trifling parking issue.

Tell him that as you now consider this a dangerous place to park a vehicle in order to give Asda custom, you will be approaching the local Press and posting warning notices on local social media sites. Local people need to be aware of the serious hidden risks they expose themselves to by shopping at Asda.

Tell him that none of the notices on the car park threaten court action, so why is he allowing Horizon to do this?

Hammer the Asda Facebook and Twitter pages (especially if there are local ones) with complaints.

Ensure you carry out any (legal) threats you make.

  • Hi all,

Just to provide a update on this thread. A county court claim was issued by Gladstones and was responded to with a defence using other threads as guidance. Following this Gladstones said they intend to continue with the claim.

The keeper then, following the advice from the previous post wrote a letter to the manager of Asda who said he will cancel one ticket as this is as many as he can do and also to enter the reg on the system. Shortly after Gladstones issued a notice of discontinuance.

Thanks to all on this brilliant forum.

The manager is always key in a retail setting in getting these cases killed off. I'm not sure why the Asda/Horizon axis. It is predominantly ParkingEye infesting their car parks, who replaced the hapless Smart Parking a couple of years ago.

I'm not sure there's any appetite at Asda for their customers to be pursued through the courts. Like at Aldi, where PE has another large parking enforcement contract, I can't recall any Asda customer being issued with court proceedings.

    Well done @wasif, great result.

Well done, although keep all paperwork in case they reissue a claim for just two of them.

    Another one bites the dust!

    As Ukm has said ...

"Tell him that as you now consider this a dangerous place to park a vehicle in order to give Asda custom"

I'm a stickler for going straight to the top. The CEO should be given the facts. You now have proof of the PPC's attitude to Asda Customers. To the point of saying that it would be in the interests of Asda to terminate Horizon before he loses more customers

Good that the incompetent Gladstones stopped this. Trouble with Gladstones is that they take on any old case and then wonder why the courts whoop them.

In the meantime this is all stress for an Asda customer and why should a customer put up with this rubbish
