SDLT Query

Options
Hello all,

My apologies if this question has already been asked a number of times - I was unable to find the answer.
My husband and I are exploring homeownership together. He has never owned a property before. I have had my name on a property before with an ex partner who needed my details to boost his buying power - our financial relationship was dissolved a decade ago and I am now unable to find records of whether or not I was ever an 'owner' of the property. I paid no money towards the mortgage or the deposit, and never lived in the property.
Does my prior property situation mean I was actually a property owner, and therefore ineligible for any SDLT discounts for a property under £500,000? If I am indeed disqualified from the discount, does my presence in a future purchase remove my husband's discount, also?

We've been saving for a while but will need to save for even longer (and therefore pay more rent) if we now need to save for stamp duty too.

Cheers for your advice and guidance

    Hi @need an answer,

I have not requested title deeds to the property as I assumed the deeds would show current owner information. Would they show historical ownership also?

    Off to investigate!
    Thanks,
    Emma
