Should I connect my Amex to Paypal

Hi all,

I am new to credit cards. I have the platinum british airways card and we are trying to put as much of our spending as possible through that card, but are concsious of maintaining our credit scores.
On my paypal account I have my bank account connected and my debit card. Do I add my Amex also, or will this be damaging to my score or not of any use?
I can't get my head around whether It will count as just taking money out or if a purchase will be regarded as a purchase.

E.g: I have a £25 a month subcription to a company external to paypal, but the payment is set up through paypal.

If I add my card will it be taken from my bank account or my credit card, and will that be seen as a purchase or cash withdrawal?

You don't have a credit score - just credit files. So don't concern yourself with any change in the pretend numbers.

You would choose which card you want the transaction to go through. Paypal will make no difference as to the cash/transaction categorisation.

I use my AmEx through Paypal on a regular basis and it's always been treated as a purchase.

It's useful to do so because it means you can use your card on websites that might not take AmEx but do take PayPal (Domino's and Papa John's spring to mind).

And to take it a stage further: Depending on the card, linking with PayPal is a good way to increase your points with companies which don't accept Amex but accept PayPal.
