Old Style Daily Wednesday 27th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I’m off out with my sister in law and nephew today. It is her birthday on Sunday and they are all going away for a long weekend. I had said that I would take her out for lunch but my nephew suggested that he takes both of us out for the day. I think that they will want to go to the coast, there is a really good seafood restaurant in a town about an hour away and I know that my sister in law loves their food so this is probably where we will go.

I couldn’t decide what to buy her so made her up a hamper of her favourite chocolates and wine. She has everything she wants so it makes it hard to buy for her.

Yesterday when I got home I cleaned the bathroom and put a wash on. I will hang that out before I go out this morning. Other than that I don’t have any housework that needs doing thankfully.

Csarina Good news that the car passed its MOT.

BTDT I’m so glad it is cysts and nothing more worrying.

Camelot it sounds like you are really suffering from the end of term madness right now. At least the end of the academic year is almost here, it sounds like you need it.

TA sending positive thoughts and hugs for Mr TA.

Bellabella with the neighbours you have I would be looking to move as well. It’s a shame you have to live among run down properties.

I hope that DN enjoyed the riding lesson and you had a lovely lunch afterwards Lainey.

Another one here who had been wondering if Tru and Silver-Oldie are ok.

Have as good a day possible everyone whatever you are doing.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's much too warm to sleep even with the fan blasting me so I gave up and came downstairs so I don't disturb Steve. I can hear the dogs moving around so I will let them out in a minute for an early breakfast and run around the garden.

I'm sorry to moan but I cannot bear this hot weather. I know it's my fault being so overweight but I just turn into a red faced sweaty mess if I try to do anything so I am longing for the cooler weather. At least it is motivating me to stick to my diet and it's nice to eat 'lighter' foods for dinner.

I hope my cmht lady will be coming to see me today as it has been 5 weeks since I have seen her and we have a lot to catch up on. I won't go out but that's ok, I have to go with Lee for an appointment at camhs tomorrow. Boots don't seem to have received Lee's prescription either so I must ask his doctor to write another one as well. It's very annoying as he is down to his last tablet and it's not a medication where you can just stop it either. It's just frustrating.

Hope you enjoy your day out Holly, the seafood restaurant sounds lovely x
BTDT, I am so glad it was nothing sinister found and I hope the cysts just disperse on their own x

Right, I am off for my first cup of tea and to sort the animals out. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning early birds and all to follow and thanks for the very early start HOLLY. Enjoy your lunch out. As much as I love the warm weather I wish the nights were a bit cooler as it does make sleeping a bit easier.

It was horrendously hot yesterday but I think today is forecast to be slightly cooler thankfully. I want to pop in town on the bus this morning for one or two bits if I cba! Our M & S closed down in April and I do miss popping in for a browse, especially the food department. I always bought my fish there and it seems an effort to go to the next nearest, 10 miles away, just for fish.

No miraculous improvement with Mr TA yesterday after 2 days taking the new tablet. Or maybe I am expecting too much too soon?

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where wanted/needed. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast this morning but still very warm, sun is forecast later. I have a wash load to peg out, which I'll do shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was a cheeky takeaway very nice it was too and nice not to have to cook in the heat. Tonight will be something quick as we have some jobs to do tonight.

Yesterday work wasn't too bad, although the phones are still quite busy, we'll see how it goes today. I'll be on days' off from tonight but I'm working Saturday - we'll see how that goes.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

There was a bit of a mist when I got up but that seems to be burning off now. It feels lovely and cool at the moment outside, so annoying having to take a cardi to get to work then screwing it up in my bag to come home!

I'm on the train today, DS1 has borrowed my car while his is being fixed, easier for him to get to and from work and also he can see the children. I may borrow DDs car tomorrow if she's working, I really need to get to the allotment - called by yesterday but it was all closed again.

Leaver's assembly this morning, there will be tears and snotters all over the place. Personally, I can't wait to see the back of this lot, so needy and unbelievably cheeky.

Good news BTDT, hope the cysts disperse.
Hope your DGD is recovering Csarina and great news for your car.
    Such sad news Snoozer.
    Hugs to you TA.

Right, off to see how Scotrail perform today, Happy Wednesday and take care. XX

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

Another lovely day, but Dumpling I'm sorry that you are uncomfortable.

BTDT good news about the cysts, hopefully they will drain.

    Snoozer, what very sad news.

I need to go out to get a few bits and pieces, it doesn't have to be today but I may as well go. I thought we were going to get storms by the weekend, so would have waited for a cooler day but either the weatherman has changed his mind or perhaps I dreamed it.

At 2.0 DS woke us asking OH to come downstairs as someone was trying to break in. No sign of anything when OH came down and I can't see anything this morning. Whoever it was would have had to scale a bolted 7 foot gate and all the downstairs windows were shut. I don't think DS was imagining it though. Actually, I thought someone was on the flat part of the roof a few days ago but it was a very loud cat, a hefty one.it jumped down onto the gate and gave me a rude look.

Sending love to the sad and those who are unwell.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Good morning and thanks Holly for starting off. It's the usual misty grey start here, 13 degrees. I'm sure it will brighten up - that seems to be the pattern.

Sorry to hear Mr TA hasn't felt any benefit from the new tablets TA.
You'll enjoy your coffee all the more for the wait BTDT. I have to take iron on a long term basis with regular blood tests otherwise I get anaemic to the point of needing a transfusion. Orange juice in particular is good to take with the iron.

Yesterday went as planned, Today we are going to a funeral, the third since Christmas, sadly.

Other than that It will be the usual "stuff".

I'll be glad to see the end of this month. Money is simply pouring out of this house. A few things needed repair/replace in the caravan, now the car is making an odd noise and is going in to the garage next week for investigation. Fingers crossed it doesn't cost too much.

Enough waffling - hope everyone has a good day. Take care folks.

    Morning

Phew its a scorcher :D Did my baskets at 6 this morning and it was 19 degrees already. Apparently cheshire was the hottest part of the country yesterday which makes a change from it being Gravesend.

Still felt pretty yuk yesterday so stayed out of the sun and upped my water intake to 3 litres. Feel a bit better this morning so will keep pouring fluid into me. I think I must have been dehydrated as I wasn't going to the loo much even with 3 litres. Leg on the other hand is doing really well and the scar is now ready to be bio oiled so project disappearing scar starts now :)

Work is ramping up now so need to crack on with that today and maybe get an hour in the garden headache dependant ...I hate being stuck inside on such a gorgeous day.

Food wise no idea but Ill have a rummage and come up with something light and not needing the oven.

Have a great day all and stay hydrated :)

Good morning chums I love the warm weather as it does my clapped out joint the world of good, but unfortunely my skin suffers as I am a pale english rose :) and I burn at the first sight of a bit of sunshine.I must be the only person in the UK who got sunstroke in March. But I smother myself with sunblock (Uvistat factor 50 ) and brave the elements.

Last nights quiz was good, and another two bottles of vino for the stash.

DGS Ben is due to fly home from Mexico this week but he is going back to Norwich for a few days as he has some part-time work at Uni to do setting up the open day stuff for the new intake of students. His graduation ceremony is next month :):)

Bit cloudy, but very warm here in Kent and due to burn off the mist by lunchtime.

Hope you all enjoy the nice weather and make the most of it as its not likely to last that long ,this is the UK after all :):)

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx
