Edinburgh has a great bus service that is quick and efficient so if you wanted to stay a bit further out to save a bit of money you can get into the city centre pretty quickly.0

This is what I've done the last couple of times I've stayed in Edinburgh - an all-day tram/bus ticket is pretty cheap and trams especially are a great way of getting in to the centre quickly.
Staying in big chains like Premier also lets you avoid the rip-off booking shenanigans that individual hotels in Edinburgh are fond-of. Never been given the run-around like that anywhere else I've been or in a chain in Edinburgh.0
