Extra Energy Woes...
Bear with me this is a bit long..
I raised a complaint with Extra Energy regarding a bill, well not actually a bill, just a demanding letter from them looking for £1300, this was back in July 17.
This all started when I called Extra Energy in November 2016 and was informed that I was £880 in credit due to my direct debit overpaying for my account vs usage.. Which made sense as I was not living full time in the property at the time.
I was informed that the refund for the credit would be returned to my account, which it did. The property being supplied was only used once every two weeks (I was working away from home and only home every other weekend) so the energy use was low.
I requested that the direct debit be reduced but amounts of £230 were taken from my account, so I should have been in credit..
I then changed energy supplier in March 2017 and moved back into the property full time at the end of February 2017.
I have never received a final bill from the company so believed that there must have been a credit on the account.
Then in July that there was an attempted claim for £1,300 so I contacted my bank. The bank informed me that no money was taken as the direct debit had been cancelled.
I then contacted extra energy by phone but has not been able to resolve anything, i just get passed from pillar to post and promised that the account would be looked into, which it never was and never has been.
When I have spoke to Extra Energy the consultants have informed me that the account is a mess and they need s supervisor to call me back.. This has never ever happened and when I call them to chase it up, I get the same thing.
I contacted extra energy and I have been passed from one person to another without getting an answer.
I first contacted the company in July 2017 after receiving the notification from my bank.
Since then Extra Energy has since continually attempted to claim the cancelled DD as well as the ombudsman has been totally useless and none of my questions were answered by them..
My issue is that from December 16 getting a refund of nearly £900 to leaving them in March 17, then a demanding letter lands on the doorstep for £1300 and I have got nowhere..
The only glimmer of light is that a collections agency looked at this and said that my bill was actually £450 ish.. High but not beyond the realms of possibility, the collections agent confirmed that they were adding back on the rebate that they had given me back in December 16..
Still not had a final bill and still cannot get anything out of Extra Energy either other than the unsolicited demanding letters and threats of ruining my otherwise perfect credit rating etc etc.
I have called them today again and been promised a call back but I know that's not going to happen..
What rights do I have after the ombudsman has failed me and no one is answering my questions?
