Combi & showers.

I shall shortly be moving into a home that has a combi boiler.
I've no experience of them and was wondering how the showers perform.
Is it the same flow you expect from a power shower from a conventional central heating system.

Hi
Yes it should be a good shower, unless the water pressure is really bad. Did you try any of the taps when you looked at the property?

Thanks for your reply Canucklehead.
The place isn't actually built yet (mobile home) so of course I haven't been able to try anything.
It is having a Unica HE boiler.
Its gratifying to hear I should be able to get a descent shower anyways.0 -
Less flow than a power shower as the hot water isn't pumped & just relies on mains pressure, so the same sort of flow as you'd get from an electric "mira" type shower.0

I'd say it depends on the boiler. We had a cr*p combi boiler (Jaguar from Wickes) which we have just replaced with a Vaillant, and a new shower mixer (bought in France at Leroy Merlin where everything to do with plumbing is about 50% cheaper than in UK). The old set up gave us a shower where the hot water pressure was so low we had to run the shower near enough on max hot setting to get a decent wash. The new arrangement is bliss - the shower is so powerful that our plumber has put a pressure limiter in, and we can adjust temperature across the complete range shown on the mixer bar. The new shower head is one of those big area 'daisy' direct overhead ones, with an extra side hand shower unit so it can pump out quite a volume of water as well0

I have a combi boiler and a 5 bedroom house with two showers. we do have a power shower on one as it's above the boiler but it works brilliantly. The other is as a normal shower. the only thing i find is i can't run two showers at the same time, but can do dishwasher, washing maching and bath - so not bad really!

Hi..if your new boiler is the Vokera Unica 28 HE then your flow rate will be 11.5 liters/minute...hopefully your new shower will have a thermostatic mixer not a standard bath/shower mixer. More info on showers controls here... http://www.bathroom-academy.co.uk/pdf/showercontrols.pdfRonald_mcdonald wrote: »Thanks for your reply Canucklehead.

Our Worcester Bosch combi (24 Kw) provides a better showering experience than an electric shower IMHO.

Thanks for your input chaps.
I wasn't very happy with the quality of the bathroom stuff (shower loo basin) that comes with the home, so I'm suppling my own, so I haven't actually brought anything yet, I'm just at the point of looking round at the moment.0 -
Hi I have a combi boiler and a electric "mira" shower cost me £300 the water tank is in the loft at the other end of the house and it works fine should be no problem depending on where your tank is going to be...:D
