Investec 2yr fixed bond

Following link on MSE website I applied online. Received unique ref number by email which also said 'upon receipt of full investment they would a) confirm I've been accepted and b) send welcome pack'. When we are talking of a large investment I find this a bit strange to let go of my funds before 'finding out if I'm accepted or not'. Have spoken to call centre this evening who couldn't locate my initial 250.00 pounds transfer even with my unique reference number and said in their South African accent that they would ring me back tomorrow as computer was 'sleeping'.
Does anyone else have experience with them via this link? Very wary of transfering the balance unless I'm sure this link is genuine. Any helpful comments please?

I took out a 2 year bond with Investec a couple of weeks ago I initially

sent a £5 test to there account and then checked that it had been received after that I sent the lump sum and everything has gone through fine sounds as though you have had a glitch somewhere but in my experience they are a reputable company to deal with
  • Excellent! Thank you

I applied for an account this evening. I called my bank to transfer the money (£80k) to Investec and they said how could I be sure this wasn!!!8217;t a scam! Not sure where I go from here. Ideally, I!!!8217;d like to transfer £2, see my deposit in my online account before transferring the rest. Unfortunately, Investec don!!!8217;t seem to work this way.

It is a big ask to transfer so much not knowing if you!!!8217;ve been accepted and not able to see your deposit straight away.

I have used Investec for years and always found them excellent. I believe with their fixed rate bonds there is a window of 2-3 weeks to fund though the money may need to go via an easy access account.
  • If you are concerned about your investments please email us your details at savings@investec.co.uk. Alternatively on 0330 123 3655 or +44 207 597 4131 from outside the UK.

I tried to invest a lump sum in a term account with Invesrec about 18 months ago. I could not believe how snotty they were. They pried into my details - how much do I earn, what was my job (and when I told them they asked more questions about exactly what I did). I found this very intrusive. So, needless to say I put my money elsewhere. I know they have to confirm my identity, no problem with that, but why do they need to know exactly what I do in my job? Snobby and snooty I think

Neither snobby, nor snooty. They are asking these questions to meet KYC requirements. As there are no official set of questions to ask, each regulated company has to interpret the regulations, and some are more cautious than others.

I!!!8217;ve now managed to set up an account having transferred the full amount in two chunks - I sent £10 and then callled to confirm it had arrived before sending the remaining balance.

A day after sending the money I got an email with my account ID. The opening process does require a bit of faith when sending such a large amount. The app and online system seems to be good. The help desk were efficient.

    So far so good.

I was thinking you had to make one deposit only with it being a minimum of 25k, good to see you can make a small deposit first then another larger one.

Just noticed the charter savings bank rate, but reading reviews on the bank seem off putting.
