Council stopping housing benefit, finished uni??

hello!
I hope someone can help me because I am becoming very desperate
Basically, I have finished uni on the 6th of June 2018 (few weeks ago) and the next week my mum got a letter concerning me saying that the housing benefit has been stopped and i must submit my payslips and p45 forms to the council in order to regain them. I dont have any of these because I have not started work, I am not going to start work because I have to wait till september to reregister at uni to complete 3 outstanding modules. Even if i had fully graduated, it is a bit unrealistic to expect me to have found work in the few weeks after leaving uni. I have to stay close to home because my mother has a disability and cannot work and I have to help with a lot of things, plus all of my friends who have graduated it has taken them an average of 4-7 months to find proper work, so i dont know why they are being like this.
I have got a letter from my university stating that I have been in full time education from 2011-2018 and I am a permanent leaver from the 6th of June, however they have said this is inadequate and rejected it, since after the 6th of june 2018 i am not a full time student anymore.
I dont really know what to do, rent payment is coming up and we cant afford to pay the council the rent without the housing benefit deductions (we live in a council house in the London borough of Hackney). I am really worried me and my mother will be evicted from the house and have no idea what to do.
does anyone have any advice or know how i should navigate my way around this?

Who's name is the claim in? Who is named on the tenancy agreement?
Have you contacted the housing benefit department and explained your student status to them?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Why is your Uni saying you are a permanent leaver when you are returning next September?
Anyway, as you are not longer in FT education it is expected that you get a job or claim benefits, so to pay the rent you will have to do one or the other, as you are no longer discounted due to your student status.
September is 3 months away, plenty of time to do some call centre/fast food work0 -

The letter is addressed to my mum but has my name in the details and is requesting the details for my earnings. My mum is the main tenant. I have called them and explained everything and they have said to send proof from the uni, which I have done, which was deemed inadequate by them when i sent it.marliepanda wrote: »Why is your Uni saying you are a permanent leaver when you are returning next September?

I go to a large uni where the faculty and departments are separate from the registry, the registry is awaiting the department to confirm my status however the department said they can only do this once the summer term completely finishes in august.
I have applied for a delivery job with a company similar to deliveroo, waiting for my induction next week. Do you think once I provide them my first pay slip from that job it will be okay?0 -

But if your starting a job then you won!!!8217;t be entitled to housing benefit surely?0

I don't think the LP is claiming housing benefit.
I think the mother is now being hit with the non dependent deduction because the IP is no longer as full-time student and is expected to contribute towards the housing costs/B]0 -

I dont mind if they cut the benefit, as long as I can afford to pay it because im earning. The problem is Im going back to finish outstanding modules so I wont be in a proper well paying job till 2019, but they are rejecting this. I wont be able to work after september as I will need to study.
The amount I'll be earning from my shifts in the delivery job that I'm starting is not going to be that high, but its the best I can do. I hope they take this into account when evaluating my mums housing benefit.I don't think the LP is claiming housing benefit.

Thats exactly whats happening i think.0 -
My son has just left college and DWP said he can't claim jobseekers because he is officially still enrolled in college until September and the housing said because he is going to uni in September he will still be classed as a student until then and I will still get full housing benefit.
So if you get the uni to say you are going back to uni it should be ok.0 -
Students
A non-dependant deduction doesn't apply to a full-time student during term time or during holidays if they're not working.
A non-dependant deduction does apply if a student works for 16 hours or more a week during the summer holidays. You may need to ask them to contribute towards your housing costs.

Hello!
So I have emailed the student records section earlier today and I am hoping they will get this sorted as quickly as they can before the rent payment is due. I am still going to work until it starts but I dont think it will affect the housing benefit because I will be earning such a small amount and it will be during what is considered my summer holiday.0
