Simply pretending not to exist isn't a feasible option. An underwriter will immediately suspect that your aim is to conceal something from them. Your personal finances could well influence their decision. As separate as you keep them. You are still intertwined.0 -

Have you asked the mortgage companies permission to live in the property?
They would be stupid to let you live there without your name on the mortgage. You could easily stop paying the mortgage and then claim you have accrued rights to live there and that you can't be evicted because your name isn't on the mortgage. Especially with children it would be tricky.
Some mortgage companies are really hot on this because they've been caught out before. My house was going to be sold to someone trying to do something similar and the mortgage company withdrew their offer when they found out what they were planning.0 -

The mortgage lender are now asking for my bank statements and my national insurances number. Surely this isn’t necessary if my partner is the one applying for the mortgage in his name only?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks !!!128578;
Are you buying from the council and the tenancy is in your name?
So you would get the discount , it does seem odd that they are asking for your details if not.0 -

There are plenty of lenders who do not require both of the spuses being on the mortgage and the deeds. There can be many reasons why people would not want to go on the mortgage joint. Such as one person being first time buyer and the other not. Or one person having a permament residency in the UK and the other one not.
As you are that far in the application you have a choice:
1. Refuse to provide the documents they want and have the application declined.
2. Provide what they are asking for and have it either accepted or declined.
If it is declined, then it would be up to your broker to find a different lender.
When I was applying for my own mortgage my wife was not on it and teh lender did not ask for a single thing about her.0 -

What utter nonsense.0 -
Do you mean in this case or you don't think it happens in finance?
There may be other explanations as stated above, but I do think it interesting that a male applicant doesn't need to provide information from his female partner, but the female applicant does!Free thinker.:cool:0
