They want my bank statements!?

My partner is applying for a mortgage in his name only, we live together but we decided that I wouldn’t apply for various reasons, one being my low income (recently had children and had to take a pay cut) and that I’ve got a poor credit rating.
The mortgage lender are now asking for my bank statements and my national insurances number. Surely this isn’t necessary if my partner is the one applying for the mortgage in his name only?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks !!!128578;

Have you asked Virgin Money why they want them?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Just ask them?0

You dont have a credit score.
The lender probably wants to verify your identity - if you do not want to do this then find another lender.0 -
Is any of the deposit coming from you?0
-
No deposit from me. We have asked but we are going through a broker and he takes a while answering emails.
I’m happy to give the info but I’m worried if I give the bank statements I’ll affect the mortgage decision for my partner. We keep our finances very much separate.
I’ve been rebuilding my credit for years but I’m still only on “fair” and “stable” with not much disposable income after paying debts.0 -
It seems they can decline on any basis and one being information on associated third parties.Free thinker.:cool:0

Are you (and the children) named on the mortgage application as a dependent?0 -
They can ask for whatever they like, as long as it is legal.
They are lending a huge sum of money. There is no entitlement to borrow, so if you want the mortgage then you have to comply with the request.0 -
i would want my name on the mortgage.
What if you split up in say 5 years time, you've lived in the house shared the bills etc but do you have a legal claim on any equity in the property ???0 -
The children are named as dependents but I!!!8217;m not. We don!!!8217;t have joint bank accounts but I have two credit cards that are almost maxed - which is the reason I!!!8217;m not getting a mortgage.
I just wouldn!!!8217;t get a mortgage which is why we didn!!!8217;t put my name on it, I realise that leaves me with no rights but I don!!!8217;t have a choice to be honest.
We can get a guarantor if needed so not sure if that would have an effect, have sent an email to broker and we are awaiting his response.0
