If you're so worried about it, perhaps you should try keeping to the limit.

If a FPN comes through, you're getting 3 points. Speed awareness courses are "first offence" offers. You could always try going to court to contest it but then you're opening yourself up to being given 4 points instead of 3 however if you've passed your test under 2 years ago, it may be worth doing this if the 4-6 months it'd take to go to court would take you over that 2 years.

The points will be counted from the day the offence was commited, not the date of conviction, so trying to delay the process wouldn't make any difference.

You can ask for a court hearing but they will only want to know if you were doing what you are accused of. If you were you will get MORE points and a higher fine - can be income related as well if they want to, so if you get the summons pay up and move on! Hopefully it will be a false alarm!
  • If it was a white flash it most likely a Gatso camera, they flash twice and take pictures of the rear of the car. If it was a red flash it was most likely a Truvelo camera which usually take a picture from the front but can take a picture of the rear of the car, they usually only flash once but some times take 2 pictures when set up for rear facing photography. It's been report that Truvelo camera use invisible infra red flashes, this is utter bollox and they flash a bright pink.

The camera sites are not always 'live' and sometimes they are set to flash you but don't take pictures.

Good luck with it. If you get a NIP in the post you might like to go to http://pepipoo.com/ they might be able to help you out.

I know this sounds harsh, but I hope you are fined and points issued, you are in control of your right foot, you don't need to go on a course to find that out.

If a kiddie is knocked down by you as a speeding motorist, you will have to live with that.

A ban may be the best long term cure for you.

What seriously annoys me is the people who slow down for the speed cameras no matter what, even if they are within the limit.

A very interesting read wig. Particularly interesting that the police didn't want their callibration methods to be revealed suggesting they have something to hide. Surely this should have instigated changes and made the callibration methods more open and accurate. Furthermore interesting is the variable timing which seems to be to try and kill off the notso challenge to the speed cameras.

Not sure what you mean there. The notso device measures the flash interval of the camera, to determine if the indicated flash interval (on the photo) is correct.

If you read the forum link there's mention of some cameras using variable timing between flashes to confuse the matter. I.e. sometimes it may use 0.3 seconds, other times 0.7 seconds. I'm not 100% certain if this was an attempt to thwart notso or has some purpose within the gatso system.
