    Afternoon all :)
Still really hot, with no prospect of rain - feeling sorry for those who live near the current moorland fires :( We moan about the weather in this country, don't we, but it doesn't need to be out of the ordinary for long before there is some aspect to worry about. Perhaps because it is so unpredictable it isn't possible to be geared up for every eventuality.

Anyway, went to the neighbouring, slightly larger market town this morning, toured the charity shops and flea market, spent less than a fiver on items to sell on  Bought some bread and a few bits at the market, then back here to the shop where I rent my sales unit to tidy up and change the stock, and then to the supermarket. Blown budget for the month, but not by much, and we won't need much to start off next month.

It is awkward getting out at the moment, unless we walk, because the water company has dug a big hole right in the middle of our access road, so basically, access for vehicles is very difficult. Of course, this means that everyone is trying to park on the road instead of in their garages / off road parking, and it is like a car park round here :( OH is really good at reversing long distances along narrow lanes and round awkward obstacles in our whopping great SUV, and I am not, so I got him to get it out of the garage and take me out this morning :D It will be good when the water people have filled in their hole and gone away but apparently we are looking at another week :(

Not much else done, apart from a bit of business paperwork, updated spending diary, listed a few things on ebay and FB - I should do some housework, but it is too hot
Must also check banks and update spreadsheet etc
Pack a couple of ebay parcels for posting tomorrow

Food from home, will do a sausage and veg bake thing for dinner

Promised to help OH clean the camper van later when it is cooler

I haven't watched any football either DNMS -I just do something else if OH has it on (he only watches occasionally tbh)

Hope everyone is having a good day!

    Wotcha Sunflowers,
Have been at a charity event this morning, so not so much time to myself. However, a bit of useful money saving activity nevertheless:
*Watered veggie garden & picked another cucumber.
*mr f dropped me off & collected me from my event which saved paying parking charges or wasting fuel driving round & round looking for a speck of free street parking.
*My Bg Budget Day - reconciled June's budget & set July's. Used a bit of backpay to pay campsite fees....nice for the worker to feel they've 'had something' from backpay, I always think.
*Checked balance still to pay on outstanding loan.
    *Entered a prize draw.
*Did 3 surveys. Prolific & Onepoll both up to over £36 now.
*A bit of quick fridge triage revealed sufficient white cabbage & carrots to make a bowl of coleslaw to go with tonight's pizzas.......
*........which, as I've been out & the timings were incompatible with making bread dough, will be made using frozen garlic flatbreads as bases. Have done this before & it's a no-brainer on busy nights. Plenty of peppers, veggies, cheese, etc, to go on them plus anchovies.
    *Pick more home grown lettuce.
*Read energy meters & uploaded them.
*mr f now has to work tomorrow morning, which was earmarked for grocery shopping, so we finalised next week's meal plans over breakfast, knocked out a shopping list & he managed to get an online order done while I was off at this morning's event. Over budget by 83p.......but delivery was £1, so really, we're under by 17p!
*Paid another 50 p into my sealed pot, which is becoming encouragingly heavy.
*Planned 'menu' for 2 picnics over the weekend - even allowing for a bit of baking to make them more exciting, it will be a huge saving on using cafes at the venues we're visiting.
*Carry on doing the beading on the gift I'm making. I've read the instructions on making it all up, but I've never lined a bag, so as the recipient of the gift is a very good needlewoman, I think I may well need to prevail upon my friend's good nature for help with the finishing touches. I'll see what she says. Beading is easy enough though, as was all the needlepoint, which I've done a fair bit of in the past.
*Carry on trying to treat poorly ankle without having to buy any more products. I was badly bitten by a fly while out in the garden a couple of days ago & my ankle came up like a balloon last night. Am taking unbranded anti-histamines & following NHS advice to elevate foot when possible & to keep applying ice packs to reduce the swelling. I get bitten a lot...partly my fault as I keep forgetting to spray on the Mozzyguard....& I regularly get a reaction which seems out of all proportion, even to the degree that I've had to go for anti-bios in the past, so am keeping an eye on it - a deeply unsexy ankle at the moment!!
*Called into local Co-op to buy cat food, as the store we did our online order with had no offers except on types where our cat can get the jelly off in 3 nano-seconds. Less waste, & it was on offer.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
Think that's it for today. I want an early start tomorrow so as to be able to clean the whole house before the temperatures soar.
    Love to all,
    F xx
P.S Totally football-free zone here. We never even know there's any going on until the branded stuff starts appearing in the supermarkets. Just how I like it!
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
