My OH has the same skin problems and his dermatologist told him to use Altruist sunscreen.
Its not advertised, to save money, and only available through Amazon. Specially developed by dermatologists for people, like you, who don't like 'heavy' creams.
Not expensive compared to other products.
Lots of info on their Amazon page.
We are using it for the second summer and find it very good.
I was able to buy a couple of tubes of SPF50 Altruist sunscreen off EBay which were delivered by Amazon: the advantage being that they came with free delivery. Cost about £9.
A week on, and I now look a lot less like a walking (!!!!!). The cream is easy to apply and it absorbs into the skin very quickly. Thanks again for the recommendation. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
entirely agree with the comment about Ultrasun, i think factor 50+ would help you0

I tried this after reading about it here. I had a malignant melanoma 12 years ago so always use factor 50, the spray mist is great, very easy to apply, not at all greasy, doesn't make you look ghostly. I was a bit wary because of the low price, £9.99 for two cans on Amazon, I'd been paying £32 for a (slightly bigger) spray - Coola. This is every bit as good, it's had a thorough test here on the South coast in the last few weeks. Mr. M is converted too, he's had his lily white legs out on the golf course for the first time ever. We also like the philosophy behind the product, no advertising, affordable for everyone and supporting a relevant charity - children with albinism.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. OP if you're still looking and the Ultra Sun everyone is recommending is not working out, try La Roche Posay. Boots have it on offer at 25% off at the moment, they have a type which is tinted as well as a version which goes on white but does seem to settle down quite quickly.
Or there is Boots No.7 who have a tinted version- I know it's a make up brand but it offers a 5 star protection and does work well for most, additionally it's normally on 3-4-2 so if you were feeling generous you could always buy a gift and pick something else up for free! I know Boots No.7 also have a mens range too so maybe ask if they do sell a male version, if not, I don't see any real problem (besides vanity) to not use their No.7 SPF 50. Either way; don't knock it till you've tried it.0 -
Sorry if this off subject. I find most sun protection creams make my eyes run. I try to put as little as possible around my eyes. Anyone know of one that is safe to use around the eyes?
Up to now I used an Aldi face cream which they no longer make. I find their latest one - Q10 day cream - makes my eyes run. To be fair, it says on the tub "avoid contact with eyes". I tried a No. 7 face cream this morning and my eyes are running a little.
Advice appreciated. Expensive to keep trying creams which won't work for me.0 -

Ultrasun do a specific eye cream, it also has the benefits of a non spf eye cream."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I like the Hawaiian Tropic. It's the best for me. I like its smell, texture and of course protection.0
