bathroom refurb - any building reg or cert required?

Options
Hello

I am about to start total bathroom refurb and I was wondering if I require any build reg sign off or certificates? The builder said No but just want to double check to be on safe side.

My builder will be replacing all pipework but no changes to the layout/stacks. He will also relocate the light switch, install spot lights (currently none) and relocate and then replace existing bathroom fun. All other work is standard: tiling and installing new bathroom suite.

Many thanks

The answer in these circumstances probably depends on who is carrying out the electrical work. Is the builder going to do it himself (personally), or will he employ a qualified electrician who will issue certificate(s)?

I have fitted around 60 bathrooms in the last 8 years. You wont need any certs for the plumbing work, but will need one from the Electricians for the work undertaken to install spot lights (A minor Work Certificate). It is notifiable to BC as it is in a bathroom (which your registered electrician will take care of)

Do I need anything for the bathroom fan as well? It is replacement but it will be relocated to a different wall.

The builder hasnt mentioned anything about issuing any certificates or need to notify building control and I kind of assumed I may need something for electrical work although I got about 4 quotes for the job and none mentioned any certificates

The fan is electric. So, the electrical certificate is the only thing you need.
