Old Style Daily Sunday 24th June 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Having got dragged around the shops by my sister in law yesterday in the heat, my brother rewarded us with lunch in a local pub. It was somewhere we haven’t been before and I do enjoy trying out different places, especially when I’m being treated. All I seem to have done is eat out this week, not that I’m complaining.

They stayed for most of the evening and we walked down to a local hotel for a drink. They have a lovely beer garden and we sat outside people watching and eating cheese and biscuits.

As the forecast is for another really good day I am planning on sitting in the garden with a book, although I may pop into the town at lunchtime. I want to have a quick look in M & S for a couple of things and hopefully most people will have gone home to watch the football.

Dinner today will be the lamb steak and chocolate fudge cake that I didn’t eat yesterday as I was out. I have got a craving for a bacon sandwich, so I think that will probably be brunch.

No housework today, I’ve decided to give myself a complete day off from cleaning or washing.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Morning! Thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.

The sun is shining again, the skies are blue and the grass on the local green space is getting very dried up, but grass almost always comes back.

I have yet more washing on the go and another couple of loads waiting. Other than the never ending laundry, I have no plans today.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly, your Saturday sounds smashing x

It’s a cracking morning here in East Anglia, blue sky and sunshine, beautiful! Have been up and out already with small dog so now relaxing with a cuppa, DOH is still snoozing in bed but I like to make the most of these long summer days.
Not loads planned for today, as Holly says the football will be on so apart from watching that I intend to spend most of my day reading in the garden, in a minute I’m going to put a piece of beef brisket in the SC and we can have that later with some new pots and veg.
Lu was a little monkey yesterday, full of energy and charging about, the haylage is obviously giving her far too much ‘heat’ so I am desperately trying to find her some plain hay, mind cob types are meant to go through a teenage phase around 6ish so perhaps she is channeling her inner Kevin :rotfl:

Have a lovely Sunday folks x

Good morning chums, another beautiful day here in the Garden of England.

Up and about early this morning as I made the mistake of while I was asleep stretching, bad move as I got the most awful cramp in my calf that woke me up very quickly :) boy was it sharp. I hobbled out of bed and eventually it went off but by then I was wide awake and no way in the mood for sleeping. The muscle still feels tender so I am feeling a wee bit fragile this morning .

As it so nice I may have a short walk down to the health centre to drop my repeat presciption off in the box there as a bit of exercise may do it some good.

Later on at lunchtime I am going food shopping for fruit and veg and a few odds and ends I have run out of.

Only the second shop this month so I am quite pleased about that Like H/Harvey I intend to go when the football is on, in the hope the shops will be less crowded, i really don't like full shops at all, mind you I'm not mad keen on shopping at the best of times .

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday what ever you are doing, enjoy it, and if you have it ,the sunshine as well.

Forecast is for a scorching week this week

Take care everyone ,you are all precious to someone

    Morning All

I woke up early so have cleaned one of the bathrooms, will do the other in a minute when I have a shower. Washing is in, it's another glorious day with not a cloud in the sky.

The allotment was looking fine yesterday, gave it a good water and will be doing so every evening this week I think. Loads of tomatoes growing, can't wait for them to ripen.

DD is coming over for lunch as is DS1 and DGS (DGD is going out with her Mum). DD doesn't know he's coming so that will be a nice surprise for her. I'm just about to put things away as my house isn't very 2 year old proof!

Hope you all have a good day and the sun shines for you. Take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for kicking off. A beautiful start and set to last all day. Mind you, they said that yesterday and we ended up with quite a lot of cloud!

We had a broken night with Mr TA unwell in the early hours. He then seemed to settle ok but I couldn't get back to sleep and feel like a wet rag this morning.

I need to pop down to Dunelm this morning as I have a few items that I ordered to pick up. It's too warm for trawling the store so, for speed, I ordered click and collect. I might pop in Home B's whilst in the vicinity too and see if they have any bargains worth picking up.

Of course must be back in good time for the footie!

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care xx

    Good morning everyone
Just had a nice message from eldest DD...she's now in Vietnam. She's still really enjoying herself, though she was ill twice in Cambodia, as were several of the others in her group.
I looked after my little great nephew yesterday, we had a lovely day together mostly playing in the garden. He loved our oldest cat and surprisingly cat loved him back...hes not the most sociable. Little cat took one look at our visitor, dived under the bed and didn't come back out till he'd gone home!
We're forecast to have a hot day today and then good weather for the rest of the week. It's about time we had the same temperatures you all seem to have been having.
I'm collecting my new electric bike at lunchtime....fingers crossed please that I make it up the hill to get home again!
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday

    Morning

Sounds like its beautiful all over the country today...lots of Vit D for us all.

Leg is coming on leaps and bounds now and I am quite happy without crutches round the house and garden. I may even attempt a go with the air ram today the house really needs it now.

Lovely garden day yesterday cracking on nicely with my book. My friend came round and we ended up heading to the pub and getting a couple of sharing platters with loads of bits to pick at. It was so warm we sat outside till it started to cloud over a bit. This morning I have a couple of pink cheeks (face :) ) so will need to slap the 50 on there today. I am normally really hot on sun cream but the bit of a breeze was deceptive.

Today is happily a groundhog day....bit of a tidy this morning probably the dishwasher fill and a lounge tidy.....followed by sitting in the garden with a book. We didn't get round to drinking the Prosecco so my friend is coming back later with the excuse to her hubby of escaping the footy  I think I am now an official safe house for my football hating friends :rotfl:

Will go with the flow food wise today thinking maybe chicken caesar salad or possibly a pizza and coleslaw...lazy food is the order of the day :)

Hope everyone has a good Sunday and stay safe in the sun :A

dp1, I'm sure you will love your bike.

I had a disturbed night last night. At one point I was dreaming and I heard a voice calling "mum". It was a male voice and brought me awake with a start - I thought it might have been a neighbour's son calling to be let in but I looked out and couldn't see anything. It was quite eerie and left me a bit worried, I shall ring DS in a while just to check he is ok although I'm sure he is.

DH is off to the gym in a little while and I want to carry on doing the thorough clean of the house. I've several bags waiting to go to the charity shop. We also have several bags of recycling in the garage because the bin is full, we've not been here to put it out for the last three occasions it was emptied.

Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
I get cramp if I stretch too JackieO, it's painful.
    That's spooky Snoozer.
I'm walking to collect my car this morning g, it's only two miles and nicer than sitting on a hot bus.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
