I currently hold my two main current accounts with Yorkshire Bank. My main account is a Current Account Direct (no longer onsale) and I run my bills and regular payments through a B Current Account. After reading of the rebranding that will be happening after the recent Virgin merger and annoyed that an iconic brand from the county of my birth will be discarded, I will be changing providers. I'll be keeping my accounts open to either use as donor accounts for switching or in case Virgin themselves offer any short-term inducements in the future. Anyway, researching new providers I'm looking at Nationwide's FlexDirect both from an ethical perspective and also the 5% interest. Anyone have any experience of Nationwide as a current account provider?

They've always been fine for us: 20+ years.
Be aware that the most you can transfer out in a single Faster Payments is £10k. (Or maybe it's £9,999). On the two occasions that this has mattered to us we've just done two transfers on the same day.Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
Never had any problems with them. Everything works as it should.0

Good account and online banking is excellent. Don't miss the 5% Regular Saver and don't forget the 5% on the FlexDirect is only for one year0

I use Nationwide and they are amongst the better providers on the high street.
However, never put all your eggs in one basket - consider keeping the YB Direct account as it's off-sale and switch the B one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Nationwide are good. I've been with them for just under a year and can't really think of any criticism. The range of products is good for a high street institution and their service is good.urs sinserly,

Perhaps this is just a generic phrase, but they closed the branch on our 'High Street' many years ago.0 -

Nationwide has been wonderful for my current account (flexDirect & flexPlus), savings, regular saver and personal loan. Only downside is the credit card team - has been like banging my head against a brick wall at times. and the travel insurance when I had a claim drove me insane. 19 weeks to get back £200!
My favourite of all the banking apps. Branch service is pleasant enough and I like that I can use social media to get hold of them 24/7.0
