Difficulty in installing a new operating system

I recently sourced a DVD of the new Suse Leap 15 operating system from a supplier on eBay. I have used the same supplier for similar things successfully in the past.
I put the DVD in the computer optical drive, went into the set up and prioritised "boot from CD/DVD", but have not been able to get the computer to boot from that disk.
The optical drive plays CDs without problems, so works.
But why is it that the new operating system installation will not run from the optical drive? The previous Suse Leap OOS was installed in exactly this way. So, what has gone wrong now?

Tried an older version and you're right: it is the new disk, it simply won't boot, although the older one will :-0
Thanks for the suggestion.0 -

Probably because E-bay is always cheaper, cough! :rotfl:0 -
I used a supplier on eBay, because the DVD cost just £1.99.
I contacted the seller, who conceded that his DVD drive had been defective. He sent me a replacement disc which worked, so the problem was easily solved.
As to why I don't burn my own discs, the last time I tried, I also got a defective disc! Sometimes its easier to buy something cheap, just as long as it works...0 -

Maybe a stupid question, but if you're already running suse, can you not just do an incremental update over the network, rather than doing a full reinstall ?0
