I have an Asus laptop k72f and the battery suddenly says, 0% available (plugged in charging) but wont go above 0%.
Tried a few things of google search, ie turn off, turn on, battery out, battery in sort of things. Update bios, Nothing helps.
Tried new battery, new power adapter. It's a fair few years old now but would like to keep it if possible.
I did wonder if it had something to do with the Latest Windows update 1803, because it seemed to go around the same time without having any previous problems with battery.
Just wondered if anybody on here had any ideas what to try?

most charging is done very separately rather than through windows. So separately it should charge even if your pc is switched off, as long as the charger is plugged into the mains
Charging is done via motherboard electronics. However it is worth while pulling the battery out and check that the connections that touch the battery are ok, visible and clean.0 -
maybe try this - search for & open 'device manager'/ 'batteries', right click and then uninstall 'Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery' then right click on your computer name at the top of the device manager list and 'scan for hardware changes'
Don't uninstall the 'Microsoft AC adapter' whatever you do0 -
Reading this again, have to ask have you upgraded the bios? is there a newer version, if so install it.0

Does your laptop still work on the battery ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Do you know anyone else with a Asus k72f, as it could be a faulty second battery - aka cheap knockoff?0

Tried the Battery troubleshooter in Windows 10?
Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot
Scroll down then click Power
Click Run the troubleshooter
Complete the wizard then restart your device to see if the problem is resolved. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0
