Checkmyfile worth it for fraud monitoring?

Options
Hi, I am hoping for some advice, as about 18 months ago someone started setting up betting accounts in my name, I found them after seeing searches on my Noddle monitoring. It took me a while to sort these, it was reported to action fraud, who advised me to register with CIFAS, which I did.

However, the betting scam has now given way to fraudulent car insurance. I got a letter from one insurance company in March, and it took me over two months to sort as they were not very helpful or efficient. Last month I noticed lots more searches, all with a fictitious date of birth, very different from my own. I have contacted all the companies involved and they have stated that they have cancelled the policies.
My question is, as I am being targetted as someone knows my name and address (probably due to a historic hack such as Linkedin or Yahoo) is it worth my while subscribing to Checkmyfile? I have not actually lost any money yet but there is a huge hastle involved in sorting these and getting them unassociated from my account. My noddle only updates once a month, so I am guessing that a paid monitoring service would update in real time?

I was hoping that CIFAS would put stop to all this, but it really doesn't seem to have made any difference, as I am sure that the crooks are savvy enough to only check with non CIFAS registered companies.

Any input would be most welcome, thanks

I signed up to Checkmyfile and was surprised to see that it only updated once a month despite having a monthly subscription of £9.99 (incl a £5 discount)

Noddle uses data from Callcredit and does only update once a month. However you can get the same data from GiffGaff for free without any GiffGaff product and this updates every time you log in.

You should also sign up for the other two credit reporting agencies for free as follows.

    MSE Credit Club for Experian.
    Clearscore for Equifax.

I too have voluntary protective registration with CIFAS and I have had it for some time.

Companies don't have to be registered with CIFAS in order to see the CIFAS registration: It's on your credit history or should be.

The way CIFAS protective registration protects you is that it tells companies to make sure it's you who is making the registration and not someone who is posing as you. That usually translates into providing extra ID at an office, for example your passport at a bank branch. If the company investigating an application doesn't verify your identity or indeed doesn't see the CIFAS registration that's not your fault. CIFAS protective registration should therefore not only protect you from fraud but should also protect you from being accused of fraud.
