Thanks to all the posters who supplied info for me:)

Sorry i didnt thank you all immediately but i have been preoccupied with GCSE stresses, and other commitments.
Its not because i am ungrateful but just that sometimes i dont always check back for replies right away, especially when i am distracted with other things.

'margaret' very unkindly inferred that i probably upset some of you, i hope this isnt the case. if it is, i am sorry. I will thank every poster in this thread indivdually.

I think that she is upset that i didnt click 'thanks' even though i said 'thanks' several times. Its awfully sad if this is the case, moncs knows i appreciated his advice because he said

Most of us come here for good information and if, sometimes, we can provide something instead of taking, it allows us to feel better by making a small contribution in return for the masses of info and advice we benefit from. The thanks option is nice but not many forums use it and frankly, I tend to forget it's there. Maybe I'm just an ungrateful Scottish sod though ...

It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

    Hi fifer,
I dont think you are an ungrateful scot :) Its really easy to forget its there, but woe betides anyone who forgets whist 'margaret' is on the prowl ;) I dont know if you noticed but she has actually clicked on your 'thanks' button, LOL

I can forward the nasty pm to anyone who wants to see it.. i have been advised to remove it.

My problems with this person is that she decided to withhold her advice because it had slipped my mind to click the 'thanks' button to a poster, even though she completely ignores the fact that i said thanks umpteen times in my replies!! Unbelievable eh. Imagine if we ALL were so selfish?!?!
I have a lot of stress in my life at the moment and i normally always click thanks, but the one time i forget she was there, ready to pounce.

I thought that this site was about the advice shared with the public not about how many 'thanks' you can clock up whilst you give advice.
Personally it seems a terrible idea to have this button at all as certain ones are clearly abusing it so that they can look 'super helpful'. I feel so sorry for her that she needs all that attention to make her feel good. :(

Clearly she only gives advice as long as she is guaranteed that you will click that little button and make her look good (how sad).
As far as i'm concerned she can keep her advice, i have had advice from genuinely altruistic people whist using this site and that is much more appreciated.

She has no idea how upset she made me and i dont think she actually cares.
I will be contacting the moderators with my concerns about the abuse of this button.
And also the moderators can check my pms and see that the last ones i made were to help someone who needed software, which i sent out at my own cost. I wasnt self absorbed enough to make sure she had clicked 'thanks' before offering her help.

'Margaret' has threatened to report me to the moderators if i contact her again so that is why i have made this post.

sabbykins: don't worry, this member is well known for her opinionated and unpleasant pms (although I have to say the one you got is mild compared to some, lol). You're certainly not the first and I daresay you'll not be the last to be on the receiving end of her venom.

If you check her posts, you will see she appears as a reasonably friendly person but her speciality is abusive pms as you have found out. Don't worry about being reported, she is well known.

I suggest you remove her pm from your post though, as it is against site rules and there's no sense in you ending up in the wrong just through frustration at another member.

Consider blocking her posts, I find it works well. ;)
