Halifax Reward and Bankruptcy

Options
Well not sure if I have this in the right place,
I was made bankrupt on Monday and I wanted a new account, so I went on the Halifax website and they opened a reward current account, I done a switch from my Barclays basic account, as Barclays said I can not use on line banking if I’m bankrupt, the trouble is if I have my wages put in the new Halifax account then they might close the account when they realise I’m bankrupt, I spent 58 mins on the phone with Halifax to be told they might close the account but they can not be sure, if anyone can advise me on this I would be grateful.

Hi Halifax will almost certainly close this account they are not B.R friendly.
Open a BASIC account with another bank Nationwide get good reports on the B.R board, I used Co op and since moved to Yorkshire Bank.
Have a look on the bankruptcy and living with it board loads of posts on there to help you along with stickies about basic accounts.
  • Did you declare yourself as bankrupt when you opened the account?
  • Even after 3 years of being Bankrupt i was told very abruptly in Branch they dont deal with people like me...oh how rude, really wasn't happy.

Since Bankruptcy has dropped off ive switched (for the bonuses) to just about every Bank going and found Halifax to be brilliant...they just dont like bankrupts.
