Equifax Trial offer

Just gone to cancel my Equifax trial offer before the 30 days are up.

After a prompt asking me 'are you sure you want to cancel' then another prompt asking 'the reason for cancellation'

Up pops 'an offer'. Here's what it says:
Cancel Current Subscription
Your subscription to Equifax Credit Report & Score service will end on 24/06/2018.
An offer for you
We understand life is busy, so let us keep an eye on your credit information for you. Change to our Equifax Identity Watch Lite subscription service and you will:
Receive alerts if we see a significant change to your Equifax Credit Report.
Have access to your Equifax Credit Report for £0.00 whenever you want.
Have access to your Equifax Credit Score for £5.95 whenever you want.
Plus you can trial Equifax Identity Watch Lite for FREE for the first 3 months, then £2.99 a month. You can cancel this subscription at any time.
I have two choices:

1) 'cancel my subscription'
2) 'I chose this offer'

Let's face it the Credit score feature is pretty useless, so I'll never use it. Identity Watch, I can cancel at anypoint, same as the Free Credit Report service I guess (although it doesn't say).

    See above! ^^^

Clearscore is free for life and gets all of the info from Equifax! (and in my opinion is much more user friendly) Don't pay when you don't have to.

Sure. Fair point. I did join Clearscore start of this month. My only concern is. what if I ever want to check the hard searches done in the past two weeks.

Clearscore may not be able to show me these as the info they get from Equifax is only updated every month. It says my next report is due in 12 days!

The equifax offer only attracts a fee if you access the score or decide to stick with Identity Watch Lite after a 3 month trial period.

I've just installed the clearscore app. Must say it's pretty nifty.

Only minus is clearscore in general (both web and app) seems a little behind with the updating. e.g. for my halifax clarity card it says 'last updated 01 May 2018' and the balance shown as £0.00. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case.

On Equifax website the same card has 'last updated date' of 18 June 2018, and the correct balance of £20.00 (which was my balance on 18 June).

Re. searches, the most recent search I can see on Clearscore is 08 May 2018. On equifax it's 19 June 2018.

Also, is there any way to download a report (.pdf) on clearscore?

Why use ClearScore anymore? Statutory report are now free of charge, so in theory can request one every day. As long as you are registered you can view online instantly

Statutory reports can be provided free under GDPR, but exhausting requests and continually asking, even under GDPR, a company can start to charge you an admin fee for them

No, they cant! Log in to your account - should you have one - and check, it clearly states its free.

There is nothing in GDPR that state they can charge you for requesting your data!

The data will be about a month behind - so long as that's not an issue then that's OK (and as it's free, who can complain) :)

    From the ICO website:

    Can we charge a fee?
In most cases you cannot charge a fee to comply with a subject access request.

However, as noted above, where the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive you may charge a “reasonable fee” for the administrative costs of complying with the request.

You can also charge a reasonable fee if an individual requests further copies of their data following a request. You must base the fee on the administrative costs of providing further copies.
