PEA Parking Fine Northern Ireland

Hi everyone, i received a parking fine from a private company called PEA and was wondering do they actually have authority to issue these and whether or not do i have to pay it i've heard conflicting reports. There is a phone number i can appeal on which i reckon i'd have a chance at. I had to rush to the hospital 1 afternoon for my wife giving birth and i couldnt find a car parking space and thought i'd use the paid parking and there was only disabled spaces left. I would never do that normally but i drove round for 25mins and was stuck for what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For the best advice you should read post #1 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread.

In there you will find specific guidance on how to deal with things like this in Northern Ireland.

In brief, do not contact the parking company.

NI, they can only go after the driver, POFA 2012 does not apply to NI, never say who was driving, there is no law that you have to. Read the newbies thread.

Read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 which has a short section on dealing with private parking tickets in NI and Scotland. An even shorter version of that section is given below.
    Ignore them

That advice applies to NI and Scotland. It is far different for England and Wales!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Follow the advice given on here by experts.
Your appeal reason above is quite frankly laughable in this scam industry don't even consider it.

If they don't know the driver's identity they are stuffed ignore!

My husband was parked in a disabled bay at a hospital in Newry & forgot to put my badge up when he was collecting me from an appointment, as the car is registered in my name, they have written, text & phoned me which is verging on harassment. I have now received a letter from their solicitors threatening county court judgements if I don't pay £132, it's starting to worry me.
