Was I right to be towed?

Do you think I might have any luck contesting it? The company has indeed paid the fine to release the car, but it states in their letter to me that I am able to appeal directly to the council and they will refund me if successful.
It just seems outrageous to me that I have to pay such a hefty fine for this. A ticket and fine I could understand more. As you can see there's no other vehicles or people around - irrelevant, I know, but pretty infuriating.0 -
Poor parking sorry OP.]0

Just thinking out loud.....
As the rental company have paid the fine are you actually able to then challenge the contravention? I see the rental company have said they will refund you if the council cancel things however that sounds more like a way to placate the OP.0 -
I think you're bang to rights I'm afraid. The sign is pretty clear. Given the charge has been paid I can't see how you could contest it with the council now anyway.0

Yes you were right to be towed. If you park illegally, you should expect to be towed or to receive a ticket. Given that it's someone else's vehicle, you should have taken even more care to ensure that you were parked legally.
Given that the towing charges have been paid, I doubt you'd have any right to appeal.
Also, think of the car club. They haven't done anything wrong so should be entitled to recovering the towing fees.0 -

As a truck driver who is sick of going to places where there are loading bays only to find some halfwit has dumped their car there or unable to get into places because halfwits have parked their cars so close to the entrance of roads and delivery points like these morons where I had to go this week, except there were two cars on the right making it impossible to turn in, personally I'd like to shake their hand. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Pepipoo.com is the place to go. sign up (not hotmail addy) and post on the council section.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I think you're fortunate that they've not chasing you for missed hires and for the time someone spent going to the pound and getting their car back.Skurwix101 wrote: »...
I’ve just received a towing invoice from the car sharing company who have paid a £265 fine on my behalf which they are claiming as well as a £25 admin fee. ....
£265 does sound very high - but I think you're bang to rights for parking in a lorry parking only area, I'm afraid.
An expensive lesson!0 -
I don't see a car sign only the lorry.

The sign means lorry parking is allowed. The implication is that car parking is not.0
