Motorbike Insurance blunder

Hi regulars and random Google Searchers,
I have developed somewhat of an issue with the Motorbike Insurer, here's hoping you can help!
So first disclosure, a proportion of blame for this issue has to go to me as the issue seems to stem from my actions... anyway here's the sitch:
I moved to a new insurer and declared one years NCB in error ( i actually have two). Anyway happy with the quote, so sign up. Next thing my insurer sends me an email and says, 'we found you actually have 2 yrs NCB, here's 14 returned premium'. 'GRAND', i thought. Until they ask for the proof.
NOW, i've got 2 letters, one from Devvitt (previous insurer) and one from the current company (BikeSure), the former shows 1 year and the latter 2, great. However, i've had two other insurer's since then (one which i cancelled when i purchased my new bike - Principal - and another i cancelled as it was becoming economically nonviable - MCE) - neither had issue with me cancelling or made extra charges.
SO, my new insurer BikeSure, asks for proof that my 2 previous NCB years are still valid (i.e. no accidents or claims i believe) 'fine' i think, no accidents/claims, no issues. So i ask both of the cancelled insurers to send a letter confirming this is the case - which they do.
However, HERE'S THE RUB - on one of these cancelled policies (MCE) I also accidentally declared 1 year when i had 2yrs (so i overpaid - but okay, probs too late to do anything about that now)... Anyway, my new insurer gets the first letter form Principal where i declared 2 years correctly and says fine but says NO when my previous policy (MCE) sends over policy details with 1 yrs NCB - Despite MCE like all the others stating i have had no incidents or claims!:mad:
In my attempt to fix the issue i phone MCE and ask them to change the policy - 'sorry we can't (More like can't be arsed) to do that 'as you made your policy online' - what?!
So without my new insurer accepting all of the 2 yrs NCB proof (one of which comes from them ) and the letters from my previous insurers stating no issues, here i am lumbered with a increased premium of £89 on top of a £150 quote
Sorry, this is a bed of snakes, but it just seems like the insurer is trying every trick in the book to avoid altering my premium to it's true status simply because of a SMALL administrative error on my part, which as far as i can see, makes no difference to the NCB that is being proved.
Again, i realise this has been caused in the most part by my own error, but i'm finding it difficult too understand why this has become so difficult to fix and a 60 percent boost on a premium seems like an inordinate cost to pay.
Any suggestions on how i can approach this issue greatly appreciated.
Thanks
