Lastminute.com, "Top Secret" deals - Don't bother - Worrying Customer Service

I've found with the top secret hotels, they often, in the details, give you the name of the hotel restaurant. I google that, and find the hotel easily.0

Since lastminute became part of Travelocity, they just don't seem to do the same deals, they also seem to have dropped their standards - avoid.0

Come on rubia, get with the programme, and you Happy
I understand you quote etc and I was making light of the situation.
However, in reply to your question "anyway it's bad form now in the UK to criticise bad English, isn't it? .
I believe it would be a good idea if everybody resident in the UK were able communicate using good english.
I learnt spanish when living in Spain, portuguese whilst living in Brazil and I even learnt american whilst resident there, etc etc. I seem to remember a comment about " when in Rome etc etc ". I am unable to happily accept the present lack of knowledge regarding the english language by people living here. That is not a racialistic comment as I regard many young white british people of today as being un-educated in basic english and basic mathamatics. Bring back the 3 R's
I apologize for being 'off topic' here. But I will not let 'political correctness' or 'bad form' dictate the expression of my views.
So there you go - got that off my chest. Thank youYou don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0 -
i wouldn't ever use a top secret hotel with them again - booked an upgraded room and paid in advance (quite a few weeks) but then they didn't have any of those rooms left when we checked in (how, if they already had my money for it?!). got a free breakfast instead but it didn't really make up for it - not when the weekend was meant to be a special treat - which also made it awkward to make a fuss at the time - i didn't want to spend ages sorting it out..... and afterwards their customer service was rubbish!:happyhear0

Happy, don't tell anyone, because it's kind of top secret this, but ... I agree with you to a point. But then I do personally reserve the right to make howling grammatical and pronunciative mistakes when I am attempting to communicate sur le Continent ... usually raises a smile
... and I would like to think I could get a job there with (initially at least) less than perfect foreign language skills if I so desired ... trouble is, we seem to have rather a lot of people still in the initial stages of holding down a job in UK at the moment ...
... oh and as for the 3Rs, well I think the government has seriously lost the plot with educational standards since the days I went to state school. By the end of my fourteenth summer I held two top grade O levels (Maths and French) and by the end of the next summer I had nine more serious ones with proper titles not the weird and wonderful arm-waving subjects they now fill schooldays with, and between those two summers I'd also had to drop three other subjects I was good at through sheer lack of space in the teaching timetable despite only 40 minute lunchbreaks most days.
My son is in his fourteenth summer and just as bright as me, but hasn't a clue about what syllabuses/exams he'll be studying for his own benefit or when. I certainly don't think he'll be able to count much past the fingers of one hand the number of serious subjects worth a light when they finally get down to it. The only "exams" he's aware of at the moment seem to be SATS, which of course is just about bloomin' league tables for teachers' and headmasters' benefits ... d'oh! Oh and I forgot to mention that he goes to one of these new fangled schools with millions spent on it!
So I don't apologise (z is for Yank!) for being 'off topic'. But like you, I will not let 'political correctness' or 'bad form' dictate the expression of my views either!
So there you go - got all that off my chest also. Thank you0 -

Just booked a hotel in Milton Keynes with Expedia Secret savers - £ 39 for hotel with Pool and breakfast included.
Better deal than Novotel which has pool but no brekkie for £40.
Son likes to have hotel with pool otherwise would book travelodge.
Guess what - after booking, reveals hotel is Holiday Inn East MK - which has NO pool.
Phone hotel, and they say: "..that's right we have no pool, and we keep telling them we have no pool".
Phone Expedia - who say it is tough as it is a "secret" Hotel.
I explain that it may be a "secret" but they are telling a "LIE", which contravenes the sale of goods act.
Eventually I they half admit they may give me refund if the hotel will bear the cost of cancellation, I explain this has nothing to do with the hotel as my contract is with Expedia and ask to speak to a Manager. After 10 minutes on hold they say they are waiting for the hotel to cancel the booking and will call me back when the duty Manager at Hotel comes on.
Will keep you posted !!!0
