Sinkhole/Subsidence 100m away

There has been a sinkhole open up near the house I have had an offer accepted on, about 100m away, and I am a little concerned but do not want to pull out unnecessarily. Does anyone know what distance you need to be so as not to affect future saleability of the house? Has anyone else had houses near a sinkhole or other subsidence issue and got experience on what distance it needs to be to not warrant an issue? I have tried looking at insurance company's sites but they all only seem concerned with subsidence of the actual property, which as far as I know is not an issue but I also know that my checks will pick up on that if there is anything, so I wonder if it only makes a difference if it happens to the property itself?

Do you know the cause of the sinkhole? If it was caused by a leaking pipe it is less significant than the cause being the geology of the area where 100m away could be likely to experience the same issues. Often local papers or news sites can give some information on the cause.0

There were lots of reports it was a leak because there had been water works there a few days before it collapsed but since then the Council has said they have not confirmed the cause and have found smaller voids as well (which to me suggests an underlying issue perhaps?), I will wait to find out the cause before proceeding either way (despite pressure from vendor to push sale through) but wondered if people had experience with similar situations (water leak or geology) as it has been a big news item and I think local areas will be unlikely to forget it very quickly (which may affect saleability and is my concern).0

100m is quite far. I personally wouldn't be worried unless it was a coal mine, even then, only if it was running towards/ away from my home.
FWIW, a large sinkhole opened up on a road near us, about 12 months later several houses very near (i.e 5m or less) went up for sale, sold quickly and for the expected price (no reduction for sinkhole). It was widely reported as it was LARGE so not like they would have missed it.0 -
Is this the sink hole on Tonbridge Road in Maidstone by any chance?0
