Our holiday rentals business has the broadband router in the cellar (only accessed via a hatch in the hall floor)
Yesterday the internet was a bit 'buggy' so I suggested a reboot of the router. Luckily there was someone on-site who could sort this, but I was wondering if there was such a thing as a temporary off button for a 15a plug supply?
We could have a simple isolator in the hall, but I'm sure someone would turn the switch off by accident, whereas if there was some sort of button/switch that someone could press but would turn back on automatically??

Hive do an "Active Plug", which would allow you to reset it remotely, I'm sure other similar products are available.
A simple isolator switch, suitably labelled, would be a cheaper solution.0 -
What about something like this, using the Normally Closed contacts:-

Is t definitely a 15A plug? If it was a 13A plug then one of these (or similar) would do. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Programmable-Electrical-Household-Appliances-Operating/dp/B01N9NLQ8L/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_60_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FED4MWA2480V6ZQECP7G0

If it's just a router, then it won't be a 15A load - probably less than 1A.0

You can get smart plugs that you can control from a mobile app - so potentially you can turn them on/off using your mobile phone from anywhere.
Like this one: https://www.espares.co.uk/product/es1687494
BUT... the smart plug communicates via wifi. So if you remotely turn off the router, the wifi will go down - so you won't be able to turn it back on!!!
(But it could work if there's anything else that you want to turn on/off remotely at the holiday rental.)0 -
You shouldnt need a remote switch ..
Most routers have an option to reboot on the admin page ..
Just log onto it remotely and tell it to reboot0 -

If connecting wirelessly having the router high up and central would be best. Moving the router could be easier than fitting new switches.0

Of course if it's not working you cant ..
But , if it's just "a bit buggy" as outlined in the OP - then you should be able to0 -
If the Internet is the issue, then a GSM mains switch could be the answer for remote access, not cheap though:

There are UK suppliers.0
